Nice! Those are great locations.

I usually fuel up in Dunnigan, for instance, as the 505 cut-off is near there.

And Chemult is key to any trip to ski or snowmobile in the southern Cascades.

What is silly is here in the Bay Area they have went live with several V4 Chargers, but they all are 250KW. Why put in the V4 and not upgrade beyond 250KW?
They have to upgrade the power supply as well as the cabinets and the dispensers.

They may not have for the following reasons:
  1. The cabinets waiting on new permits
  2. The grid supply is insufficient
  3. There's no room to place batteries to make up the difference
  4. Only the dispensers needed replacement
  5. The parts were only available for one or the other at the time they did the last revision
I'm getting the idea they decided they needed more time before going live with the high power service. Remember, to upgrade this you need to upgrade the grid connection, the cabinets, the dispensers, the software, and test the battery packs that to make sure all of these things are working.

Correct, I recall reading this on X, one of the Tesla guys posted, that they would be installing v4 chargers in some locations, that would only run at v3 speeds for some time until the permitting / supply upgrades are finished then they would be upgraded to the full v4 speeds.

I’ve got a legit question though, I just got my beast 2 weeks ago and since we get 3 months free super charging, I’m taking full advantage of that and not charging at home at all. I have charged at several different v3 sites, which should give me up to 250kw speeds if the battery is low and preconditioned, which I always do. I’ve plugged in a few times below 10% battery, which should give the full speed capability as it has before on my Model y and Model 3. But the max speed I’ve seen my Cybertruck charge is is around 180ish kw, never above 200kw at all. Is that something I should have service look into? Has anyone else experienced this?

The amount you can hit requires a perfect storm of things:
  1. Preconditioned pack
  2. External temperatures high enough to precondition;
  3. External temperature low enough to actively manage motor and battery temps;
  4. Arrive in the low single digits of charge
  5. The station needs to be in good condition
  6. The cable needs to be in good condition
  7. The station needs to not be loaded with other users (and not maxed at grid)
  8. The station needs to not be sharing the load at the cabinet (and not maxed on the circuit)
  9. The weather needs to not be heating the cable or cabinet
You really can only control your preconditioning. It's only a matter of a minute or so of charging in any case (until you can get a peak over 300, then it's several minutes).

And even v3s can be capped at the grid or substation at peak power, it varies by location and maintenance.

Limited by location, not vehicle.

I believe ~200kW (or less) flow is typical across the supercharger fleet.

There are several reasons that an upgrade to V4 doesn’t instantly translate into higher peak charging. The local utility being one of them.
A simple battery diagnostic from your app should tell you if it’s your specific vehicle issue.

Re: "V4 chargers"
AFAIK we have never seen any V4 **cabinets** in the wild
but only V4 stalls/post/pedestals along with V3 **cabinets**.
