I ordered a Model Y and have been trying to figure out how to ensure that it comes from Austin. So far no luck there. I did put money down for a Silverado before I found out it would be over $100K and only as a hedge in case the CT continues to slip as I am not getting any younger.

if the Y prices come down and it gets air suspension, I will not get CT....I am 46,160 on list so I will probably get one of the ones that they are still weaning out all the problems and the Y should be pretty good by then

Wish I had ordered the Rivian truck way back. If I ordered it now I'm afraid it wouldn't be delivered before my CT (I'm around #50,000).

Now that we know we won't be getting a cybertruck for a few more years, (I'm about 70,000, so maybe late 2023?). What are you planning to get to hold you until then?

I've currently got a 2012 Tacoma and need to do something soon so I'm super curious to hear what you plans are.

I’m planning to get fit so when my CT does eventually come I’ll be able to take full advantage of its capabilities. Gotta get the heart pumping well so it doesn’t seize up on the extreme “roads” I’d like to explore.

My daily driver is a 2008 F350 crew cab with 5.4 liter gas. I love this truck it has 260000 miles on it now. Everything works most of the time!!! I recently did suspension upgrades a paint job(Matte black) and even installed a camera system. I’m keeping it but I thought I would have a CT by now so I’m torn. Rivian? 150lightning? I need a truck that will do what my 350 does it’s a work truck. Hauling and towing constantly. Neither the 150 or Rivian can do what the 350 does. CT will if it ever gets here. Admittedly disappointed!

If you don’t have the Rivian on order yet, it is likely 18 months - 2 years before you get it. $1000 down on Rivian is a big ask for a truck from an unproven company with super slow manufacturing which is 2+ years out.

If you don’t have an F-150 Lightning on order yet, I don’t even think you can order it until they release V2.

Its likely your CT order is still your best bed. The folks who ordered all 3 a while ago have options. At this point you are kind of stuck waiting a long time regardless.

Ford will have to shed alot of orders for anyone ordering mow to get a truck before 2025. They cut off reservations at 200k, supposedly. They hope to get out 20-40k this year, and 80k each the next two years. They didn't manage to get 40k Mach-Es out last year, so...

Silverado is also 'sold out', but we don't know what those numbers are.

It's not looking pretty no matter what truck you want.

I guess I'll just wait. I can't stretch my budget to buy another car or I won't have money when the truck comes in. My Mazda 3 is doing fine.

My 2008 Scion xB and 2009 F250 are OK so far but definitely showing their age and I’m not fixing every little problem any more. X on order but likely won’t see that until May 2024, which might be 3-4 years sooner than the CT. I’m more than a million deep in the CT queue.

Lowering prices on a shipping vehicle is always tough. Doing it with 1000s of pre-orders is even worse. So adding features to the current shipping Y might make more sense than lowering prices.

Of course If adding air suspension requires chips which are in scarce supply, then you can forget about it for the next few years.

They still sell F350s too. I have a model3 and my wife and I love it. Don’t want to go back to ICE but I need a reliable vehicle for my business. Disappointed due to the wait. He’s putting people in space but my pickup truck has that many engineering issues it’s taking 6 years? I get all the issues tech and supply but the 59 year old baby here wants his trucky NOW!!!!!?

Tesla Model Y LR, Model 3 SR, CT on order

My wife and I have the 2021 Model 3 SR and Model Y LR respectively. Both cars were leased (3yr) from Tesla (insurance is Tesla too) but no FSD. The cars are our daily drivers and I have a Dec 3rd 2019 Cybertruck reservation. That should work well for a 2024 CT delivery.

The MY and M3 are fantastic cars and we are totally happy with them. We charge both cars at home (Tesla Wall Charger) and have road tripped the Model Y several times with great success. After 7 months of driving Tesla's I am convinced they are the best auto choice I could have made this year. The Cybertruck will be my next vehicle whenever it comes.

I haven’t investigated how comfortable the sleeping arrangements in each truck would be but the cybertruck is the only one that will have FSD. So you could sleep and let the truck do the driving. For me, that makes it considerably better and worth the wait.

That is still a maybe. I think likely at this point, but definitely a maybe.

There are a lot of things about the Cybertruck that makes it worth the wait for me.

Though if I’d known it would be delayed more than a year, I’d probably have kept my Tundra for at least another year. Sold it a bit too soon.

We are retired and have been spending winters Snow Birding on the road in our Class-C Mercedes Sprinter based motor home. Got the CyberTruck bug about 2 years ago, and did an on-line reservation 17 months back (like #1,200,000 in line). The plan was to get the Tri Motor with the 500 mile range, which has the specs to tow the trailer we like. Right now we can sell the motorhome (66,000 miles) for about 75% of what we paid for it, which, in the RV world, is something of a miracle. I fear we may age out of driving anything before that CT becomes available (FSD has real appeal). So, we are going to sell the RV, take the money and put it into a 25' towable, on order and not availble until the end of this year. And we have ordered a tow optimized F-150, with a 4-5 month wait. We will try to get the bucket list Alaska trip done in the next couple of years using this truck (can't imagine any kind of charging infrastructure that would make this possible using an EV for several years). Meanwhile, here's hoping that Tesla, Ford, Rivian, Chevy, ? develop a 500 mile capable truck with good tow specs. I must say that the process of ordering the F-150 shows why Ford dominates the ICE pickup space... many options that allow more tow and cargo capacity adjustments. They are all about pick ups, and will probably do a good job of reacting to the market and it's needs... afterall, this is an existential task for them... do or die in my opinion. I am rooting for them all, as competition is what will give us many good choices.
