Personally don’t care for this feature. Gimmicky and cost increasing

I thought that too, but crab mode could be incredible for backing up a trailer through a tight spot (so nose is not swinging wildly)... If trailers are your thing.

The Model Y turning radius was noticeably not great when I drove that. The CT will be so much better in parking situations with 4 wheel steering. To me that is a valuable feature and worth the extra complexity. I do think the crab walk stuff is kind of gimmicky. I wonder how backing up a trailer with 4 wheel steer would be- might be better to be disable for that .

AWS provides actual benefits and is not a gimmick. One could argue over the cost/benefit analysis, although we don't know the cost.

Also adds to trailer stability for anti-sway, and for emergancy maneveoures, and stops people from cutting the curb because of the long wheelbase, which is longer than a F150. This would have likely become an issue as was the case when EM was driving it.

It's also a safety and traction improvement in that the wheels can track eachother, meaning in sand and snow the rear wheels can follow the tracks of the front. This will be even better with torque vectoring on the quad motor. Obviously really good for close quater maneveoures and turning around on a single lane off road tracks etc. And even for steep up hill climbs where the front steering loses traction and steering authority.

I am not seeing much more than 20 degrees of turning due to the bed clearance constraints, but I think it will still help a lot. I want it.

Absolutely. While more is better… just having a little bit should be a huge help.

I am %100 in the camp of simple is better. I can’t imagine this is even remotely as durable as a simple rear end. This feature is super awesome for a mall rated truck. How long before major work from off road abuse? I guess we’ll see…

I changed my mind. I don't see this being an option. It will be standard across the line.

I now see it like the short range model 3/Y. Telsa just doesn't want to be associated with a product that people will find disappointing, even if it was their choice to go cheap.

I bet the cost will be less than $600 for Tesla . While it might be a factor in a modest price increase it will be closer to $800 of the total price increase and well worth it to every buyer.

If that rod is part of the 4ws linkage it looks like it will be well protected supported and simple. The somewhat limited range of motion also keeps it simpler will less exposed length and forces imposed like the front axle.

Maybe there will be a way to center and lock it out in the event it does get damaged in the sticks.

Not to mention likely the reason for a year delay.

Musk is hell bent on not being showed up he's now actively slowing EV adoption.

Musk needs to go as CEO.
