14-50 limited to 2 kWh kW? Seems low for a 14-50. 12 kWh kW seems more likely.

EDIT: Yes, I goofed. I was corrected. That's fair.

(Since I was corrected correctly, I'll toss this reminder out there: THEN is time related as in "Do this and THEN do that" where THAN is comparative as in "This is bigger THAN that.")

This public service bulletin brought to you by my Dad.... dang it.
Dad was right, dammit.

The biggest mistake NASA made when faking the moon landing was listening to the marketing team who REALLY wanted a video of the earth rising over the horizon. Problem is that since the moon is tidally locked, earth-rise doesn't happen on the moon. There isn't anywhere on the moon where the apparent position of the earth in the "sky" moves*. 😳

*procession and libration are too slow to be captured during a mission

Huh? What does tidally locked have to do with the earth rising over the moon? WTF

And the earth is flat, too!

This thread has officially fallen off the face of the earth
Gus I've told you before, this is what happens if you always want to live on the edge! ;)

There are plenty of SuperCrew-like cabs paired with 6.5’ beds available

The catch is that they’re mostly 3/4 ton+ class vehicles.

The ‘market’ pinch point is that all the super crews with 6.5’ beds have huge footprints eg …

Wheelbase (in.)157
Length, Overall (in.)243.5

Not many are buying vehicles that large unless they really need it for eg hauling or towing, etc.

In that crowd, 1/2 ton trucks are viewed as nearly adorable weekend warrior mobiles

So the market segments roughly as:

  • Cute little consumer 1/2 tons with 5.5’ beds, vs
  • Real work truck 3/4 tons+ with 6.5’ beds+

A CT with a 6.5’ bed, and the other 2019 stats for the “Tri Motor” (in terms of payload and towing), threatened to add a nearly 3/4 ton capabilities and bed size instead in the footprint of a 1/2 ton truck, that happens to be BEV

where we’ve landed instead is a similar trick, in terms of class vs size, but ratcheted down a knotch: nearly 1/2 ton capabilities and bed size in the footprint of a medium-sized truck

And while it’s possible the CT later comes in a trim that manages more than ~2,500lbs payload and 11,000lb towing, it’s not going to be attendant to a bed with anything like a true 6.5’ bed
Correct, there’s plenty of configurations you can order, but nobody buys them so dealers don’t stock them. The truck buying public have largely spoken on this, they value some maneuverability and park-ability over maximum bed length. If anything CT buyers should feel like they’re getting a little more utility for their money.

for the point @RVAC was making, there isn’t any need for a crystal ball

the notion of the panels as structural was in part that it would save weight compared to a traditional traditional frame construction

the CT weighs more than a Lightning

ergo…
Dang psychics got in the way again of concept matching finished product.

well again, i think they sell plenty, but in the 3/4 ton+ category. Like pretty much every (all?) 3/4 ton+ configuration is 6.5’ bed or greater.

But true enough, that in the 1/2 ton segment there are few trims with SuperCrew-like cabs plus a 6.5’ bed - and then in only lower (eg XLT) trim levels, and uncommonly.

Which combined was the intended point: people who “need” 6.5’ beds also generally “need” performance capabilities not found in the 1/2 ton segment.

It is for flat earthers. They fall of the edge all the time, that's why they are a dying race.
If the Earth was flat, cats would have pushed everything off the edge long ago.

If only the marketing team would have known that they could have gotten the identical video by filming from a craft launching off the face of the moon!

Look up what tidally locked means.
I know exactly what it means, no need to look it up. It still spins around its host planet, it just shows the same face to it.
