I ordered it with my beast and had to pay a deposit of something like $500 (if I remember correctly). I think they said the extenders would be available at the end of the year...

Many think these won't see the light of day, few months later no word. Likely Tesla will just release a CT with a larger battery pack.

It is going to be very curious how fast they charge at v3 (& future v4) superchargers.
As well if they can cool (eg AZ summer) & heat (eg MN winter) them well.

It probably got a very low take rate. I highly doubt they will release it

I’m taking delivery today of my truck, I wonder if I can have the store reps add me to the wait list for the extender pack….?

Imo which is only worth about 2 dusty ass pennies, I would think instead of a battery pack in the bed they install a larger structural battery pack (~200kwh) in place of the old and now you have you 470 range and keep the bed of the truck intact. This would be my preferred method. Call it the CT Longrange or some shit like that.

V3 they are currently slow and with hardware won't improve.
V4 does not exist, and will be a decade before there are 1,000 of them across the country providing impactful charging.

Yup, they won't see the light of day. Tesla made a low range sports car SUV in the CT and now that there is truck competition from Chevy and others will have to put some value in them with better charging and reasonable sized batteries if they want to compete past the youtubers buying them for contet.

I was really referencing the configuration with a separate box/pack. ie. how will it be connected both electrically and with coolant lines. Or will the coolant be self-contained which would seem odd. All seems like it would be a hodgepodge.

Will it hit atleast 250 kW like the main pack even at v3s? Albeit a short amount of time. The Silverado WT4 chart I put in another thread was impressive!

Wonder if existing battery packs can be modified with additional cells by Tesla if this is the case that there is free room. I’d pay for that but not the bed battery pack extender.
