This seems like the obvious solution and is available for about every other truck.

A small outlet seam (zipper) of air down by the tailgate would let air flow go from the cabin out that "outlet seam."

thing is, this alone wouldn’t begin to condition the vault in any useful way

Imagine a 1,000sq foot 3 bedroom house, single HVAC unit/zone, and thermostat is in the kitchen.

now take out the front door, and then build 3foot hallway to a second 1,000sqfr house attached only to the front door
I do have an inkling of what you are saying but the question is to what are the expectations on comfort level. You will be WAY better than sleeping without it. The expectation is you already have a decent tent sleeping wear and bag.

The thermostat likely would have to run at a higher temp. ie. instead of 70 maybe 76+

As well, I think this company like did a variety of testing and found it satisfactory. ala
In field tests, Campstream One reportedly kept the interior of a tent at 20 ºC (68 ºF) while the outdoor temperature dropped to -12 ºC (10 ºF) overnightCampstream

C, you need to stop! A lot of people are gonna be sleeping in the vault area. We have hashed this out before. Go check on all the YouTube videos of people sleeping in the back of their sexy vehicles.
Great! Then they’ll still get to sleep in the cab like they already are

But if they plan to close the tonneau (or tailgate) and have air comfortable temps in virtue of the cabin’s native HVAC pipes back they’re, then they’ll Be disappointed

meanwhile, worth admitting a bit of bias here: anyone who thinks that sleeping in their air conditioned car is “camping” is not on my list of people whose feelings I’m considering

Other types of people might need to, in which case they‘re hopefully comfortable!

well, two things:

first, this system aside from replacing the window also makes a duct completely to a register in the vehicle - it’s not passive

“A short hose runs from a hole in that unit to an intake scoop which completely covers one of the vehicle's dashboard heat/AC vents.”

(nor does a Tesla have a typical register for this approach to work)

second, they say they found it acceptable in cold weather …with heat tending to rise plus the non-passive ducting, I’m not surprised

I do, however, remain biased that most of these folks should just man up and learn how to camp ?

EDIT TO ADD: but yes, a system like this but for the rear window is what I was referencing earlier. When’s her tonneau is closed at least, the rear window is right there. Would still need some system to not have it be passive, ideally. I mean, unless you eg want to keep the cabin blasting at 80° all night to juat to warm the vault *some*

C, you do you. If you do not plan on ever sleeping in the truck then move on to another thread. But for those of us who want to we are looking to share information. So the cabin A/C/heater may not be enough to route back to the vault. Well there are portable ac/heater units that can be plugged into the outlets in back. The main goal is just to get some airflow between the two zones.

to be fair to me, I wasn’t here participating on basis of not understanding people who camp in their cars. (For three summer months I lived in a Tacoma in the Mojave desert - I get there are use cases.)

I was participating here on the basis of pointing out what those folks should probably not be relying on to accomplish their goals

all this brain damage to re-engineer the HVAC architecture of the vehicle, when, like you say a tiny, portable heating unit and plug into the beds outlets.

but we’ve got people talking about preferring to take cutting torches and welders to the bulkhead of the cabin and vault

But sure, knock yourselves out!

I wondered about the wattage difference between a 120v portable heater and the Tesla heat pump. Surprisingly close in this example 735 vs 750 but I suspect the Tesla's duty-cycle would be way less at the "sacrifice" of what "level" of comfort you are looking for. Aside: I think the Tesla would be quieter.

Based on his test, he concluded his 2019 Model 3 without the heat pump required 2,170 watts to maintain the temperature. The new 2021 Model 3, on the other hand, needed only 735 watts.

[Below is one we got for my kids English basement where he didn't want to hit the max 1500w which is the upper limit of all them due to standard wiring]

Breezer Windows for the win! It is an insert with a glass panel that clips into the insert. So take out the rear window out and install the the Breezer Window insert. When you want window out just unclip the glass panel and then you have almost full access for airflow between the Cain and vault. I contacted Breezer and they said they will definitely make one for the Cybertruck. Breezerwindows.com

Neither was promoted or mentioned.
Founder and CEO said probably to HVAC and midgate, as far as Tesla that's about as much promotion as they do.

Breezer is interesting, REALLY hoping the aftermarket comes through with a decent window, be a little challenging with the fixed? headrests in the back, but hopeful they make some options.

Why not just plug in a efficient space heater in the back? Why go through all this remodel and warranty voiding ? What is the cubic ft of the vault?

Also the vault is protecting you from conventional and is probably insulated , just use a reasonable sleeping bag.
