Before delivery, seems every reviewer raved about how quiet the Cybertruck was. That has not been my experience at all.

My Beast is actually quite loud. AT tires seem to account for a lot of the road noise. I enjoy the motor whine but regenerative braking is loud enough to be picked up by people on the other end of calls—iPhone over Bluetooth. (Side rant: BT connection is really no better than 6 year old Model 3.)

Compared to 2018 Model 3, the Beast motor and road noise is much louder but wind noise is substantially less. Early Model 3s were not exactly known for being quiet.

The Beast is much louder than my 2022 Ram 2500 Longhorn Limited. The Ram has much higher quality materials (lots of leather, padding, insulation, ANR, etc) leading to a far more refined if not luxurious ride.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the Beast, but don’t go in thinking it will be as quiet or as smooth as other high end luxury SUVs or Limited/Platinum/Ultimate trim trucks.

What a lame poll. There is no difference between the Beast and AWD FS Cybertruck’s at the noise level, but you chose to omit the vastly larger body of owners from your poll.

The Cybertruck is MUCH quieter than any other Tesla. As a result we hear the motors more. I expected more noise from the AT tires but I really don’t hear them.

I used to think that the Model X was super quiet but I had my CT in for service last week and they loaned me a Refresh Model X and the CT is better for noise, ride quality, steering, even the interface.

I'd say the Beast is quiet and the motors are the loudest thing (from a perception point of view).

Yes there is, they use different drive units.
Beast: normally uses PM motor in the front
AWD: normally uses PM motor in the rear
That can produce very different levels of cabin noise.

Mine makes that same high pitch ear piercing sound, it's VERY unnatural acceleration, fine, deceleration fine, but at cruising speeds? NO. I read on Reddit another member is getting his motor assembly replaced due to this noise. I started another thread with this, perhaps we can band together to get to the bottom of this. Glad I haven't got rid of the Lightning yet, it's whisper quiet at cruising.

I actually think my beast is pretty quiet. Tires are relatively quiet (great for 35's, have another truck with 35's so familiar with how bad it can be), wind is very minimal (esp vs. my 20 M3P), and motor whine is there and it's awesome....but the only time I dont have music on is when I let someone drive it, otherwise I have background noise (music) and dont hear anything...

For a truck it's great, vs. my Wife's SQ7 it's less quiet (minus exhaust when on throttle).

My Beast is the loudest of all our EVs (M3, MS, Ford LIghtning, Nissan Leaf). There is some road noise but not as much as I had expected from AT tires - definitely hear the spaceship motor whine from the PM motor in the front. I've heard that the AWD are quieter and others in this thread seem to confirm that. Perhaps the permanent magnet motor is noisier than the induction motors.

I would say I have significant motor noise starting at 60+ MPH. I'll try to remember to take a video.

Does the AWD not use the permanent magnet in the front? I figured the front motors of the AWD and Beast were the same.

How do you know there is no noise difference between AWD and beast?

Not a lame poll at all, very interesting considering the car has 50% more motors. If someone sad and FOMO cuz they don’t have a beast and can’t comment, that’s on them. Move onto the next post.

Definitely louder than my 2020 MY Performance but I like the high tech sound. Its louder when you mash the throttle vs accelerating slowly but you can always hear it.

Yes, there is a third motor but it is in the back of the truck and part of a single assembly. I can truthfully say that I always hear the front motors but I cannot say that I have ever heard the rear motor and suspect that is the case for Beast owners.

What I meant is that the construction of the AWD and Beast is the same. Same castings, same suspension, same steering and brakes, same tires, same interior for the most part, and same glass, so there should be no difference in noise levels between them.

You would just get a much larger sample size if you included AWD CTs.

Ah ok ?

I saw a post from someone stating they had a AWD and CB. Would be interesting to get firsthand feedback.

Not quite. The Beast has two motors in the rear. Both Beast and AWD have a single motor in the front. The difference is it is a permanent magnet magnet motor for the Beast and an induction motor for the AWD. Since induction motors have lower spin loss, they are the ones usually turned off when you don't need the power of all motors. So the front motor is always used in the Beast since it is the PM motor whereas the rear motor is the one always used in the AWD since the PM motor is in the rear. I suspect that is why the Beast is louder - the front motor isn't always even on in the AWD. Here is a nice Munroe Live video explaining the pros and cons of each motor type if interested:

I hear that high pitched whistle noise as well, very annoying and makes me headache, but any music/radio will cover it so it is not a big problem for me but I will for sure talk to the service people next week. I am more worried about if there is some potential issue with the motor.

I actually like the regular motor noise, like jet engine or spaceship.
