Can't. I'm waiting for Lance to design a truck camper. The rack and off-road accessories will go on the top or on the sides.

I have worked in the trades building and remodeling homes for close to 40 years and the rack that was on the CT will be pretty close to useless if the CT is to be used as an actual work truck. Framers, plumbers, sprinkler installers and supervisors will need something that you can easily load items from 16' to 24' and double strap it down. With the 4 anchor points on each side it should be fairly easy to mass produce a proper rack.

There are mount points which will work for a proper lumber rack. The lower profile and ability to squat the rear down should make loading and unloading much better for hauling lumber than a traditional truck.

Anybody doing "actual work truck" stuff with a Cybertruck is flexing. They can afford a trailer lol

Something like this sketch and two renderings? They're done with the old prototype but similar adaptations can likely be done with four attachment points:

Back when I was framing houses up in Westlake/rollingwood area I had an enclosed tool trailer and always an 8' bed truck with a headache rack to pick up that extra 26' 2 x 8 ridgeboard, etc. that the builder always forgets to order.

I would say that 99% of the framers/remodelers I knew had the same set up.

Itā€™s funny to me that basic things like this that should be on any truck (and many vehicles) gets soo much attention. When the truck gets here it better have all the basic truck stuff. And it looks like it does, but I am waiting to see the really innovative stuff that Elon seems to be eluding to. So far the useful features that are confirmed that I see that are above standard aside from the overall enhanced durability and the software superiority of the truck are the vault cover, rear wheel steering, that linear anchoring system, power in the frunk and vault (but that seems to be arguably standard in EV trucks now). I donā€™t consider the vault in the vault very useful. And that rack was mediocre to me. I have a bunch of tacomas at my office with high end off-road racks and they actually enhance the look of the truck. I feel like the rack they showed on the CT actually made the truck look less cool like when I put a ladder rack on my ford truck. I think the shape of the CT makes any design component much harder to integrate aesthetically

I still love the truck. And I am a greedy maximizer just like anyone else. So, if the CT gives me more bang for my buck, I will jump on it but I am still waiting to be really impressed by these extra features. I would be impressed by an on board compressor large enough for a carpenter to use effectively, a collapsible rack system, a pass through ( I would gladly trade the vault cover for an aftermarket camper shell), a 6th seat, fold out tables built into the truck, sail pillar storage, a hose-able interior (like the bronco), a full pass through bumper to bumper so I can throw those long pieces of trim or unistrut or pipe straight in without dealing with the roof rack ( like the Bollinger), a LineX bed that wonā€™t scratch day 1 and make the vault look beat by the end of the year, a fold out vertical receiver so worker that want a place to attach a vice, or cooler or something that needs an attachment point other than a roof rack, built in retractable tie downs with a simple push release (humanity is way past due for better tie downs). Lastly, I would say a PTO (like Ford has) but that proved to be too advanced for this crowd in previous conversations.

But for now, I guess Iā€™ll join the crowd. Wow! look at those rack attachment points!

If they are keeping it basic to keep cost down then bring it on. But if what we see now is what we get and itā€™s $75k I will probably have to really really love the truck when the time comes to pull the trigger.

I think there will be several design and function options catering to different crowds.
This caters to the conservative been driving a truck not interested in an electric truck type of crowd.

With flags a wavenā€™ and an ā€˜Merica bumper sticker on the back, the southā€™ll be placenā€™ their deposits right quick.
I think this caters to the, I have a rack to show off my high tech shovels that I maybe use once a year crowd. I personally donā€™t have time to strap my shovels in when I am done for the day. They get thrown in the bed.

Seriously? That is the worst looking piece of junk. I've made better in my shed using scraps from a previous project. Then again, perhaps that is the look they are going for? I thought then knew something about aerodynamics, this does not look efficient.
I wouldnā€™t say itā€™s horrible, but for Tesla you would really think it would be cooler, but we will see soon.

Well, that's what the vault cover is for.

It's also why we have some high-end DeWalt hand tools - because someone was too tired to make sure they were strapped and and they were left on the highway from when they slid/bounced out. No way to find their owner... So, well, we'll make use of it!
