BINGO!

Just coincidentally this is from a GF Texas drone shot today.

You can clearly see the different body styles. In the middle left is a body set up for a structural battery. The bodies on the right have a structural floor for non-structural packs.

So I guess my assumption was wrong. The 2170 packs are not structural at all.

I'm not sure if its proof, or if all those were blanks from Fremont?

My reasoning is that the assembly line for the one without the structural pack would have robots and people putting in the false foam floor, carpets, middle console and front seats and wiring looms. Would they have a parallel line for that or would workers be waiting while a structural pack with everything on it glides by?

I just read the quarterly report and relistened to the entire call. I did not originally hear the last question at 1:02 and I reneg on my comment about the Semi using the 2170 cells (or not using the 4680 cells as you say), so I accept the "goof" moniker for that. On the other hand, in the same question answer Elon said there would be no impact on the use of 4680 cells for the Cybertruck. Your question/comment about the 4680 cell ramp, I assume, is directed at Elon and not to me since I am not the one making them. I am only reiterating what they said during the call and in the quarterly report.

I have listened to Dillon's youtube review on Electrified and I read/review Teslarati and Electrek multiple times a day but often their 'reporting' is opinion rather than fact, or at least a mix. I was surprised when Elon said during the call that they are targeting 50K Semis by the end of 2024. He said that their Semi production ramp would take about a year.
50k semis is massive production.... that should terrify Freightliner, etc.

Lots of folks would be willing to pick up their truck at the factory, particularly if it would move them up in line a space or 2.

Imagine if one of their solutions to the quarter end push is the last week of the every quarter they have an open house in Texas to clear out inventory so they have no vehicles en-route.
hell I'd do that just for the coolness of direct pickup from the factory.

Given their development of the 'snake' several years ago I would say that self charging is the least of their concerns (although I think that is a long shot rife with challenges). There is no way that any state (let alone all of them between Texas and wherever we are) will allow a Tesla to drive without a person in the timeframe we are talking about. But it is a nice Thursday afternoon fantasy.

Personally I will gladly fly to Austin, pick up my Cybertruck, load up on as much BBQ as the truck will hold, and drive back to the San Francisco bay area...if allowed to. At least that way it is miles of enjoyment put on the truck.
Think again. Tusimple has semitrucks on public highways with no human in vehicle.

Cars are not bubble-wrapped after manufacture. All will have some miles when delivered.

Even if it's 1000 miles, the IRS rate is about $0.60/mile which is less than 1% of the car's value. However, I would be reluctant to take delivery of a car with that many excess miles on it without some consideration.

Still, it's not unusual for Teslas to be delivered with 100 or more of miles already.

Think of it as a destination fee.

Towing with the CT will suck more than the Lighting because it gets it base range through aerodynamic efficiency where as the Lighting uses bigger batteries.

The Semi assumes a box trailer which is tucked behind the cab in it's range estimate and has the battery size to compensate.
We can conjecture until the cows come home but we will have to wait until Elon talks about CT range with cargo and towing. Seeing as it is intended as a work truck I will take my guess that the range estimate will include some if not all of the cargo or towing capacity on flat ground.

Honestly, I’ve waited this long, what’s another year? I’m content with my model y at the moment but i keep telling the wife “i can’t wait for my truck.”

I REALLY hope they blow the rest of the EV trucks out of the water. Looking at the others they kinda just look like nice toys. Especially the Hummer that is literally good for nothing but parking lots. Rivian is getting their but going to expos and seeing it in person and asking questions… the infrastructure isn’t there yet plus the specs look just like the Jeep Gladiator, nice truck but can’t do much other than light farm work and Im a Jeep GUY! 92’ YJ right here. I digress…

i can’t wait for my truck ?
