You will just need to get in the habit of clearing the rear camera. It would be way easier than removing the snow from the tonneau and opening it.

I find even if it is dirty it still works well enough.
Yes, that will be helpful for the first 350 feet of driving, and then the camera will become dirty again. Pulling over to clear the camera on an unlit highway every 350 feet would not be a valid solution to the problem.

I guess I was thinking it would be like my M3 and didn't get direct spray.

I was once emphatically planning to remove mine, but now they've grown on me a little or at least become more tolerable. If my usage situations change to where I'm towing trailers very frequently or something like that, I may replace them with larger coverage and more extended side mirrors, but until then I think I'll leave the original ones on. The triangle mirrors also look better from the inside to me than I had originally thought they would.

... Regardless, those triangular mirrors will be the first thing to go if they come on mine as delivered. Someone said they'd be easily removable, but I don't care even if they're not easily removable, they're coming off.
Crow recipes available upon request.

I think I may remove. In my wife's Y I get tripped up looking at the mirrors instead of the screen. I try to make the change but find myself, as others have mentioned, going mirror first then force myself to the screen. With them removed I think I will be forced to retrain myself to use the screen.

I hope someone develops an aftermarket mirror with a quick disconnect like my Wrangler had so I can decide to add or remove as needed.

I must be missing something. We are traveling now and the rear and side cameras are getting messed up frequently. The weather really doesn’t allow for us to get out and clean the cameras except at charging stations, every hundred odd miles. Sure, I can jump out of the car more often, like I did when my Lexus wiper froze up during an XC trip, but I hated that and it was a primary reason for not wanting another Lexus. I really want this view issue handled by Tesla.

I'm removing the side mirrors but replacing the middle mirror with an aftermarket digital mirror... the camera will be mounted on the trim piece just above the tonneau!

Don't get me started on the turn signal problem. If a simple AI can't figure out that you have changed lanes and cancel the turn signal after the lane change we have problems. Yes I am that guy with a turn signal flashing for miles. The mirror popups are rather small and I don't always realize the signal is still active.
Since you don't have a Tesla yet, you may be unaware of this:

One of the best new features to be introduced in the last year or so was automatic turn signal cancellation, it can be enabled in the Menu System and that setting automatically transfers over to the other two Tesla I drive occassionally, for a consistent experience.

It's uncanny how well it works once I got used to not cancelling them myself - it took me about one day to get mostly used to it, and two weeks for me completely adapt. I haven't had to cancel a turn signal for many months - it watches the road and cancels them at the appropriate time. What I like best about it, is it cancels them exactly when I would if I was paying 100% attention, just as soon as the last two tires cross the dotted line.

If you are changing multiple lanes in a row, you do have to engage it for each change but that's really easy to get used to and it encourages following the law in most states that makes it illegal to cut across multiple lanes in one manuever.

The AI behind this is like magic! It might not seem like much, but it removes some of the workload of completing a fully legal over-taking of a slower car on a two-lane road. Just turn on your turn signal and go. And, of course, it eliminates the possibility of driving along blissfully unaware that your turn signal is still on, a problem I have been known to have on my motorcycles when you can't hear the turn signal.

My wife had a more difficult time making the transition and turned the feature off after a couple of days (she kept engaging the turn signal as soon as the car had turned them off). I had that problem too, but quickly adapted.

I looked a while ago for the M3 removal kit, but there wasn't anything great. Plus my M3 is a lease.
Evannex makes a mirror delete kit for the Model 3 that retains the functionality of the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi antennas contained within.

I think the Cybertruck mirrors don't have any antennae in them. Anyone know for sure?

I was thinking just about the back up camera. I go forward 99.9 % of the time. So on those crappy snowy muddy days I will just get out and clear the camera prior to precision backing. Using a spotter is sometimes an option as well.

I do have a m3. It took me a minute to find the auto cancel. It is under lights. Thanks for the tip. I will be happy about this for weeks. ?

Congrats on your Model 3! You should add it to your list of vehicles in your profile.

You are going to like this feature once you drop the habit of manually cancelling them!

I've been driving with FSD engaged on every trip for over 3 years. Now that side camera views are displayed on the center screen on turn signal activation, I just glance at the screen whenever FSD changes lanes. BTW, with FSD engaged, I haven't needed to intervene on a lane change to avoid an accident for a year or more. When FSD is available for the Cybertruck I could do without the side view mirrors, as well, so I might take them off and risk a citation. It would be interesting to take them off on a road trip to see how much efficiency is gained.

Keeping the side mirrors. My F-150 rear camera lens gets crapped up on every trip this time of year in Maine. It's either mud or salt-covered. And I forget to clean it at stops while on trips and end up having to use the mirrors to back my truck into parking spots. So unless the CT can make up the difference with their side cameras, I'm not changing.
