Said by so many but how do they miss that the range stated by Tesla is 318 because of the tires and not 340. Come on guys. I’m sure there will be a very prominent retraction when he declares “the first Tesla to exceed the stated range on our test”! Ya.
Also can “industry experts” stop saying the duel motor CT promised 500 miles of range in 2019?!? The duel motor only ever said 300+ which apparently they hit exceedingly on the nose. But the press and surprisingly many here keep stating this wrong “fact”. People who only ever reserved and intended to purchase a duel motor AWD pissing and moaning about the huge range promise let down. Wtf

This is pretty funny/sad write-up by Edmonds. "Our Edmunds EV Range Test is the most accurate independent range test to date” and highlight the article with CT falls short in range test. How do they miss the Tesla EPA range for the truck they are testing is only 318 miles? Clearly these guys were expecting lower results (as they have seen on other Teslas) and were blinded by their assumptions. Surprised the owner didn’t point out how they missed the most important point of their testing.

Tesla claimed, with 35" all terrain tires, CT could get 320 miles. Edmund tested achieved 334 miles. That is better! Does Ford and Rivian use 123kw battery. No, they use a bigger battery pack. These guy have to throw in something to make the CT less desire then other truck. CT have more features that are way better then ford and Rivian. CT> F150 & R1T

Totally agree. Seems obvious they should get that part right. But glad to hear it exceeded rather than failed their way of testing range.

Funny thing is, owners who don't quite understand range will still come back to bitch about Tesla AND Edmund's, when they don't see these results in some random drive

Because (shocking!) Edmonds does this test to roughly replicate the EPA-like range conditions:

"Our test targets an average speed of 40 mph, with a 60/40 split of city/highway driving for the entire route.
EVs are tested in their most efficient drive modes, as long as they don't produce maddeningly slow acceleration, with regenerative braking set to its maximum strength. We also stay within 5 mph of the posted speed limit whenever possible. Cars start with a 100% state of charge and are brought back to headquarters with 10 miles of range or fewer, for safety precautions. On this day, testing conditions were mild with an average temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit."

Owners will drive faster than an avg of 40mph, then come back to b**ch about it here - this time saying both Tesla and Edmunds are wrong.

Until these trucks can use the Supercharger network, I would never touch one. Once the Supercharger network is opened up, it will be a freaking mess. The random locations of NACS ports on cars will cause serious issues and people taking up two chargers. Will the Ford Lightening even be able to use the pull through chargers? I am not looking forward to this insanity. It will also suck when Chevy Bolts are drawing a max of 40 kW. :p

Yep - lightnings use all Tesla chargers in a couple months…

Solid range test but the charge curve still sucks, IMO. Faster charging negates the need for huge range (outside of towing or way off the highway)
I’ve had my CT less than two weeks and its been charging up to 240 miles at 80% only so far. Not sure it could gain almost 100 more miles of range at 100%. Perhaps I’m missing something.
