Exactly! When I drive below 70mph, I get 386 Wh/mi in Sports mode for Beast. If I drive at 80mph, I get 470 Wh/mi. Most don’t realize how important aero is. It’s not linear consumption. The OP said 78 mph “average”. If he drove at 80+ mph consistently, it’s a range killer, and then people blame on CT’s batteries. It’s physics and nothing to do with CT’s batteries.
I was getting over 500 Wh/mi in the summer just driving around town. The toll roads are posted at 85MPH and that's the right lane, lol. Plus, the A/C is real range killer when it's +100º outside.

I'm getting closer to 400 Wh/mi now that the weather is mild and the novelty of launching/speeding everywhere has worn off, hahahaha

A/C isn't that much in terms of Wh/mile If you are doing 85 of those miles every hour ?

I went on 600 trip this weekend. My range was horrible. I barely got 200 miles per 300 charge. Had to charge 5 times. Teslafi rated battery at 70% efficency. At 5 months degrading I won't make a year before battery is dead. I've notified Tesla.

Was that driving in the cold or in warm FL?

Wow that is a very flat route too, do you know what your wh/mile was for that?
Assume you were going 80MPH+ in order not to get rear-ended on I-95?

Show us your energy usage screen- there are too many factors at play here. If you want better efficiency, slow down and use less cabin heat. These two are the biggest reasons for your efficiency after outside temp. The EPA rating is spot on if you drive mixed as they do in tests. You literally drove it on the highway basically your whole trip and at high speed.
I don’t have a screenshot of the energy app but it did say I consumed 10% extra due to high speed (still doesn’t account for the 40% efficiency loss). I updated the OP with all the stats from Tessie including cabin temp, average speed etc, the speed limit on this highway is 75mph

Yup, efficiency beast. That's why I got this. Pre-heat, keep speeds at 5 over speed limit, tires at 50PSI even in the cold. 3 miles per kWh is possible. Insane for such a large vehicle!
Our speed limit is 75. My tire psi was 51-52. Still getting 600Wh/mi. So
I know from extensive monitoring of my average speed on trips that it is nearly impossible to maintain a trip average of 78 mph without extensive driving of well over 80 mph.

IMO, your efficiency is in line with what should be expected at higher speeds, particularly when the air is below freezing (due to higher air density at cold temps and how that impacts consumption at high speeds).
You’re right I did update my OP with my average speeds for each leg. It was a lot lower than 78 mph.

Was it only one charge stop on the return trip?

Fully power 16kW preconditioning @ 80MPH is an extra 200Wh/mile while active. If you do a drive without Supercharging stops, you'll see much better numbers.
Wow didn’t realize it was 200Wh/mi additional to precondition. I did just update the OP with battery temps. I did do two supercharging stops also on the way down.

The best thing you can do is set your speed to the posted or plus 5mph.
Speed limit is 75 so I was going 80, which is still slower than most traffic.

What does your R1S do at 80MPH?
We did this exact same trip in my wife’s R1S this summer in August. We drove the entire way at the speed of traffic (75-83mph) - speed limit is 75mph, and we didn’t have to stop to charge at all. Went from 95+% SOC to around 8% SOC for 220 miles.

I think it's coming down to speed and heat. I have seen my truck hit 560+ Wh/mi in the cold (below 30 degrees) in Nebraska especially with the cabin heat above 68 degrees and driving above 75mph. When driving 55-60mph, in the same cold weather, I'm around 400-450Wh/mi.

Your question actually led me to read how the EPA comes up with this rating, and it is interesting: Fuel Economy and EV Range Testing | US EPA

I've done over 5000mi now since I got my CT in the last week of December. Average is 514wh/mi, that's with mostly highway driving at ~66-67mph in a 60, or 75-78mph in a 70mph zone around WA and OR. A/T Tires, wheel covers don't seem to make a big diff. Some off-road driving, snow, gravel, hills, and lots of elevation gain on the various passes.
Been taking advantage of my 3mo of free supercharging, so lots of pre-conditioning and supercharger usage. About 3.3MWh now. Total amortized engergy usage is ~658Wh/mi, including car camping and whatnot.

I drive it the same way as I drove my Model Y, which averaged 319Wh/mi over 83k miles. 30% over the rated 246wh/mi. This puts the CT at right around 30% over rated Wh/mi as well.

I have the same vehicle.

I had a long trip I need to write up (1000 miles each way). On the way there my efficiency was so bad I thought my truck was broken. It is so bad. None of the predictions on battery percent were even close. On the way home I slowed down about 5-10 mph and things were dramatically better. I think the efficiency is still bad and the Cybertruck needs a 500-600 range so it can have a practical 300-350 but going a little slower made a huge difference. The predicted range and battery percent remaining tracked much closer (still missed a few by little amounts). Once that speed gets over somewhere between 70-75 things go straight to heck which is real sad because I was driving on roads with an 80 mph speed limit.

Reminder the EPA does not have an official fuel economy rating for the Cybertruck.
The EPA considers the Cybertruck a heavy-duty pickup truck for purposes of fuel economy and emissions certification. Tesla is therefore not required to report fuel economy information to the EPA and the EPA is not required to independently test/verify their claims.

Also you'll note that if you search FuelEconomy.gov, you won't find a listing for the Cybertruck.
