Elon stated it is ~84" wide instead of ~80" that was shown on screen so we already know those specs do not reflect the dimensions of the OG prototype accurately.

Couple that with the tug of war photo where it looks longer than an F-150 crew cab with 5.5ft bed (231.7in) and it's highly likely that it's not just the width that's off. As to why that's anybody's guess ...

Someplace for once and for all go measure the Petersen truck. That's 231.7. It's going to be a little smaller. It isn't bad.
Yes, someone please take a tape measure to the Petersen museum.

He said that 3 months later, so they'd already shown the specs and OG at launch, and he also stated they'd be shrinking it at that point I believe.

My point is the dims on screen were the OG dims. But yea, SOMEONE measure the photo lol PLEASE

Uhm, yes? Don't see your point here.

Like Franz his statements about shrinking the truck refer to the actual prototype not the slide that had the dimensions, imho those are the shrunken dimensions already.

I know that is your point ... but in that tweet Elon contradicts that by saying the prototype that was at the unveil was 84" wide not 80" like on the slide that was shown that same night.

Anyway we'll just have to agree to disagree unless someone whips out the measuring tape :ROFLMAO:

I’m thinking the design he likes the most that he can’t talk about is the robo taxi. I bet the robo taxi has the seats facing each other or possible to swivel the front ones around to face the rear. Just a random thought.

Dang, whatever the size I'm just hoping the interior is as roomy as a regular size pickup and that I can fit a full sheet of plywood in the bed with the tailgate up.

If that is the case then I'll be OK with a smaller pickup. Otherwise, if it is a midsized pickup I'll be preparing to divest myself of the hype and my pre-order.

I've never been interested in a Tacoma/smaller pickup. I want one that is the normal size for a pickup in the US.

Cybertruck will not be able to hold a sheet of plywood with the tailgate closed. Very very few pickups with 4 doors can.

Yup, for me one of the key feature of Cybertruck at reveal on 2019Nov is that a couple sheets of plywood would fit with tailgate closed and vault cover closed.

Every sheet of plywood I've run across has been 8' long. That means it won't fit in a 6.5' bed with the tailgate up. Having the full 4'+ width is much more important since plywood can then lay flat on the floor and extend beyond the end of the box and onto the tailgate. This is the best you should be hoping for with the CT.

6.5 foot bed and gate down would work very nicely. Having flip up for hauling sheets would be a cool addition to tail gate. Honestly, I feel in love with CT the first day I laid eyes on her. Would love to have her as her true size, but what we will get will be just as beautiful, functional and IMO the first real truck ever built in the entire world. I truly hope that the CT will have the 500+ available. Tri or quad. I need DISTANCE+ functionality +strength +comfort

That doesn't really make sense, why would they show off a different set of dimensions from prototype at all if it was going to be shrunk down? That's directly false advertising at that point.

it's not false advertising as there is no product yet for sale.

This was never the case. The bed has always been advertised as 6.5ft. An 8ft sheet of plywood was never going to fit in the bed with the tailgate closed and covered...unless a midgate was in place...which it wasn't at the reveal and even today we still don't know if the midgate is a thing or not. There are images and videos of the back of the cab with no glass, but I've never seen anything that shows a midgate.
