Class action lawsuit waiting to happen. The fact that I've had a truck for a month that doesnt have the autopilot/FSD I paid for and that I am not allowed to obtain the equipment (gateway and universal connector) that I paid for is ridiculous. What if I want to have a friend install it for way less (I was quoted $4200 in Austin for the install) or resell the equipment because my house is already installed? Close to $15k in value here that Tesla is not delivering without an asterisk that I saw nowhere when purchasing the truck.
I feel your pain and don't like it one bit, but I think it is called: "Bleeding Edge". Just keep smiling!

I managed to get the 3V gateway installed and uni wall connector before they pulled the plug on deployment due to firmware issues on the gateway. For me it has to be a physical visit to update the firmware before the backup feature is enabled. Once they start rolling them out again it'll be OTA updates.

Disadvantages of the 14-50 solution:
1) Currently there is a 12 hour timer. It'll shutoff and you have to restart it.
2) When the charger is plugged in, the 14-50 is disabled. You can't seamlessly transition from charging to backup mode over the same connector which powershare supports
3)9KW cap on output, vs 11.5kw

Not supported until maybe Q2 or Q3, but you can add a powerwall to your 3v gateway. In this mode the CT supplements the powerwall. Powerwall unlocks support for Solar and hitless backup. Powerwall also unlocks rate shifting. So eventually it's worth having at least 1 powerwall to supplement the CT. CT alone is backup only (like a generator). Powerwall alone has a major weakness in that once it's empty the lights are out. CT can drive to recharge and keep the house going.
If I can get the Powerwall to feed off my solar without new microinverters, I want to get a Powerwall with the 3V gateway. We lose power too often just for maintenance and then SCE says we could be without power for days if there is a fire risk when the wind blows. I could be off the grid with summer sun. Winter rain, not so much!

Had an outfit called Connected Technology (NorCal) reach out to me to schedule an estimate visit. He is working up 4 different quotes for different install scenarios. Fortunately, the meter/main 200a panel is directly next to where the charger, 3V, and potentially a PW3 could be installed. Will update back here when I receive the quotes.

the powershare isnt seamless either there can be 10-40 seconds of power outage depending if the truck is plugged in or not and if its asleep or not so either way theres power outage time then it comes back on, i am totally fine to unplug the NACS cable and plug in the 14-50 RV cable.

Both stop working at 20% SOC too. and i do believe that the 14-50 outlets do now work even while charging now after a recent update.

I'm a little surprised to hear them say it works with any Tesla powerwall installation. So that means there is even less "value" to the foundation series for those of us that have tesla powerwalls?

Where I live in western Texas, it is a company called Solar Smart Living, the only authorized Tesla installer in this region, now that Tesla's own solar installation division here went bye-bye late last year ?

Where did they say you would get those features on day one? Did you not realize it would take a few hundred thousand miles of real world telemetry before they turn on any type of autonomy?

This standard procedure for critical systems development.

Tesla should absolutely disclose when selling a $80k product that the majority of the $20k add ons won’t be available right away and there are restrictions on how you can obtain them. Come on don’t be an idiot. We all love Tesla that’s why we are here and waited 4 years for this thing but they shouldn’t get away with shitty business practice.

tesla energy installer resumes get put to the bottom of the stack among the reputable installers in the industry

I was contacted by Smart Charge America. They already have my UWC and gateway in their warehouse. I sent pictures of my power panels and garage.

I received a quote with the following:
  1. Install the 3v Gateway between my main breaker panel and the meter.
  2. The gateway has slots and knockouts for three 2 pole breakers that will be used to provide backup power to my subpanel and two AC compressors
  3. My solar inverter, oven, and dryer circuits will stay in the main panel and will not be powered during an outage.
  4. My garage is on the other side of the house so they'll run conduit with six gauge wire for power and 16/4 AWG wire for communications.
After tax credit and rebate I am looking at less than $1400.
