And do we qualify for the 30% Federal tax credit the same way you can with solar or powerwall install cost?
For the installation equipment some of it if you have battery on site too, people trying to use the solar credit for the "battery in their CT" may get a nasty surprise from the IRS.

I've been very curious about the details around the Powershare. Who will install it, how much it will be, what it will entail, etc. I've been searching the internet for the past few weeks and finally think I have some good information to share. I've listed out the info below to make it easier to read. Let me know if you have any questions.

POWERSHARE INSTALLERS
1. Smart Charge America
2. Gulfstar Electric (Only Florida?)

1. There are several companies quoting the PowerShare with 3V Gateway. The main company I found is called Smart Charge America. *Watch the video at the end of this post from Smart Charge America with more details on the 3V Powershare install for Cybertruck*

2. Sounds like there will be two options: 1. Whole home backup. In this case the 3V Gateway will go between your meter and your home panel and will power the entire home. They can exclude very large loads that the truck may not be able to power. 2. Partial Home Backup. This one is a little less clear on how the install will work. I think you have to option of installing it between the meter and main panel and then using the included circuit breaker spots in the Gateway to chose what to power OR or you might be able to power an existing subpanel with your backup loads already in it. I asked for clarification from Smart Charge America and I'm waiting to hear back.

3. Seems like installation can run anywhere between $2,000 - $6,000 on average depending on where your panel is, where the charger will be and other factors. This makes sense since Cyberbeast owners are getting a $4,000 credit which would be the average install cost.

4. Even if you get the Gateway installed, they are NOT currently activated to be able to utilize the powershare feature. From my understanding it won't be until March or April when this feature is activated via a Firmware update.

This information is as accurate as possible, but I'm not sure that all of it is 100% accurate. It's information I have found in several different sources and thought I'd share so some people have more information on this system and what to expect.

Got this email today that eludes to a June software update for the power share.

The June software update would coincide with the planned initial release of the Cyberbeasts to non-employees. Another piece of the puzzle fall in place.?

I am in Austin, TX where the electric utility provides up to $900 rebate on EV charger installs.
I too hope to enjoy the rebate, but my install will be significantly more expensive since I must replace my main panel.

I thought the same since my main panel was old and didn’t have a main disconnect. With the Tesla Gateway, it becomes your main panel and provides the disconnect. My old main panel will be demoted to serve as a second sub panel.

They told me "your current electric service cannot support the charger". I also have no main cutoff but 3 ganged circuits totaling 160A (50+50, 50+50, 30+30) so it seem like enough...?

Smart Charge America told me the installation cost qualifies for the 30% FederalTax Credit. My install is very simple and straight forward and it is still costing me $3,600 ($2,600 Net with tax credit).

Have you received a VIN? I just now got an email from a company saying that Tesla reached out to them about my Cybertruck.. trying to figure out if there is a correlation between getting reached out to and receiving a VIN

Is this hardware significantly different than what needs to be installed for a regular generator?

Congrats!! Do you remember the time frame between getting the email from the Powerwall installers to getting a VIN assigned?
