Being a Silverado EV reservation holder, I got an email this weekend with some great videos about the truck to keep me interested. I'm wondering why Tesla doesn't do this? I reserved a Cybertruck a few years ago, and I don't think Tesla has sent a single update since then.

C'mon Tesla...give us something to work with here. The fact is we don't know anything concrete about Cybertruck. It's time to release the final design, specs, and costs.

Here are the videos Chevy sent in the email:

Tesla isn't to this point with the truck yet... or perhaps they're past this point? This is like what they showed back in 2019.

I didn't think the video was worth posting here, so little was shown, it's just sitting still there.

Are they past this point? The expected release dates are the same for the CT and the Silverado. Yet we know much more about the Silverado's features.

Everything about the CT is speculation right now. We only get to see it at a distance. I would really love to see Tesla give us a video walkthrough of the CT's features. Both to show them off and to confirm that they are still included. We need something to go on!

The Cybertruck launch video has quite a bit.

Not really worried about final final until they have the order email out and I can book it.

They don't really need to send updates. We're all going to buy it anyway if we can. If we can't, someone else will. Sure, it would make me happy to get an email with a video, but I don't think they care. And to be clear, GM doesn't either, other than they are trying to sell you something. So thank Chevy for manipulating your mind with advertising I guess?!?

Watching the Silverado video, I am reminded of all the discussions we have had about a CT midgate. I have to say, that if the CT were not an oncoming thing, I'd seriously look at the Silverado.

As I see it, though, I don't believe any of these legacy auto companies will survive through the decade. So I'd much rather bet on a CT and the Tesla infrastructure going forward. Seems safer overall, but also I think the CT is going to end up being a much better truck than any of the other ones.

I respect the OP's choice. But I'm holding firm.

In the last few seconds the fine print at the bottom says they are going to be available Fall 2023. Hopefully lots of CTs delivered by then.

I will say I really like the Chevy. Great styling, love the midgate. And that is a real solid marketing clip. It would speak to the guys on my hockey team, who pretty much define the truck market.

I am speculating that Tesla is going to save up the CT release and more good news when they sense a general market recovery. It would be a waste to put good news in the market right now. Tesla is not hurting for cash.

Hopefully Elon and Company will put their head down and execute the volume ramp up and publish Master Plan part 3. This pro Desantis , anti LCGTQ, picking a fight with everybody is really turning me off, I am sure a few more. Maybe Elon is frustrated with the pace of progress on many fronts and is venting. IDK, but it is dragging me down.

Tesla doesn’t do this with their vehicles. I am unsure what you mean when you say we know nothing. The specs at unveiling remain the same. The UI will be much the same as all Tesla vehicles. There will be added 4-wheel steering and a 4-wheel drivetrain variant. It will use the 4680 structural battery pack and Giga press front and rear. I suspect that it is second-tier features that you are concerned about, such as wipers and mirrors, midgate, rear window functionality, folding seats, cup holders, tie downs, and the like.

would I like to see more detail and videos? Absolutely. Do I expect to? No.

I think everyone here can be honest....silverado EV looks like a normal truck. idk how you could be on the fence between the Silverado EV and the CT. when you drive the Silverado people aren't going to break neck at it just like the lightning. the CT on the other hand will have people saying wow and pointing at it for years after its already released. also do you really want to deal with electrify americas chargers? most don't work. with Tesla you have their charge network. also note Tesla specializes in EV's, you know exactly what you are going to get from their EVs. ford and chevy just started making them. they have 1-2 years experience compared to 15 plus years with Tesla. don't kid yourself. if your a late reservation holder on the CT then okay jump on it but you'll regret not waiting for the CT. not only that. telling people you drive a Tesla is also a lot better than saying you drive a ford or chevy. basic

I will add the release of CT details may coincide with Twitter funding requirements in August.
Twitter will be a hell of a lot cheaper for Elon if the share price is back to $1200.

I think EM is only putting 6B down the rest will be borrowed. Twitter makes money so its cashflow can pay for some lending by itself.

TSLA stock is still the collateral.
