My Lightning powered frunk struts are about double the size of the CT pics. I assumed they were assist and not powered. Can anybody with a powered frunk verify size.

EDIT TO ADD:

Since inevitably folks will be confused.

The video shows an unpowered truck having its hood raised/lowered against resistance of the geared motor. If you’re familiar with this, it’ll be obvious. The video is for those who have to see for themselves (and, apparently, who have experience with moving an unpowered motor against its gearing).

Independent of the video, I am confirming the hood is powered.

Q&A:

It’s not a powered assist. It’s that these units being transported are not powered up (that’s why we see the 12v jump starters out before they drive them).

On the way up, the guy has to do an Olympic squat to raise the hood weight against the gearing.

On the way down, it moves slowly because of the weight-assist against the gearing.
This definitely confirms a powered open/close frunk. Awesome!

On my Volvo XC90, this is exactly how the powered rear opens and closes when I’m doing it manually.
The resistance is pretty good and takes time to open and close against the motor and gearing.

When I use the powered function, it’s quick.

In my commuter, the trunk isn’t powered. It’s dampened. The behavior in the video is nothing like a dampened trunk. It’s definitely working against a powered frunk function.

Let me know when you can actually push a button, wave your leg, or use the app to open the frunk. This "power assist" doesn't really excite me. I would rather just have a non-powered frunk than this.

Edit: Hopefully they are still working on it to be fully powered, no assistance required.
I do not think that you really want an unpowered frunk lid with this thing. It is not going to be any fun at all to open and close.

More speculation.

The exact details will be revealed on Delivery Day.

I predict the Cybertruck livestream event will be bumped to October in typical Tesla fashion.

Who needs sources if you have brains and deduction?

I like a powered frunk.

Will help heaps when I start my new pizza delivery job...from home...using FSD.

Lord, I hope they aren't delaying production because of some missing automated frunk part. How did you rich people open your hoods, back when you had ICE vehicles? Call a mechanic?

The rich don't open anything on their cars, they have people who take care of that. /s

Actually, after about 60 years of opening my owning hoods and trunks, I find the powered ones annoying and I know I'll eventually have to pay for that function twice if I own the vehicle long enough - once when I buy it and again when something in that complex mechanism fails.

On the other hand, maybe I'll own the CT long enough that I'll get too old and feeble to lift any lid by hand and I'll be glad to have a powered assist.

I believe you’ve said you’re confirming it outside of the video but I think people are missing that important piece of what you are saying and only focused on the video.
honestly, the video should be enough ?

Hear hear. It’s difficult to understand the infatuation with having powered lids that will eventually break and require costly repairs, and which are actually slower than doing it by hand.

Right!

And another thing... We won't be able to slam the lid shut when we get super irritated about [our significant other doing something super irritating, getting a flat and forgetting there's no spare in there, opening it to discover that you forgot to stow something in there, yada yada...] ;)

Or just pushing / pumping down on it to squeeze that last piece of luggage in.
