What the heck happen to the Powershare Gateway Home Back-up for the Cyberbeast Installation credit of up to $4,000.00. I just got a Cyberbeast and told go pay for it yourself. Thanks Elon for the $20,000 surcharge plus no one from Tesla will give me a answer but they did send me the Powershare Gateway and on there website they Required: You must be in contract with a certified installer before purchasing Powershare Home Backup Bundle.
The $4k credit ended in May. If you ordered after that timeline, you aren't going to get it.

Every AC compressor has a LRU rating, which is the peak amperage at startup. The limit for PowerShare is LRU 110, I believe.
131.0 LRA
HA! I got my initialisms crossed. The correct term is indeed LRA ("Locked Rotor Amps"). The PowerShare rated max is confirmed to be 110.

Soft starts are one thing, the drain on the battery is quite another.
It's nearly Halloween, so I'll use an analogy. AC units are worse than vampires trying to draw the blood out of your battery.
This is true, but letting the units run for 30m once a day to take temp down from 80 to 72 (usually before bed) was clutch. It didn’t noticeably reduce the time remaining estimate doing that. If we kept it on, the time remaining estimate would go from “over 2 days” to “18 hours.”

All of this is relative. We lost power for 4 days, some have had it off for 14+ days. The truck does a good job of estimating time left on the app. and in the truck. So most people should figure out what to shut off if they pay attention. All you have to do is look at the app when your AC turns on and you can see it’s a big deal.

If we ever have a random power outage without weather, I’m going to let everything run knowing the outage will likely be way less than 18 hours.

I also tried disabling my 5 band so it would only see 2.4 and several other items, but the only one that made any difference was when i turned off WPA3.

amazes me that new things like this coming to market do not support 5 and WPA3
Yes its weird, my phone connects to anything almost immediately and so does my TV. I would think its pretty simple in 2024 to have a pretty seamless wifi connection. Xfinity app lets you change from WPA3 to WPA2 and I did that for 2.4band but it did not connect. The charger is also only like 20feet from the router. I think the charger needs to be reset, because I tried so many things and it would be best to reset it.

I got my 4K credit. Total was around 6800 for the installation and I will be paying 2800 or so. Cant remember exact amount ( in my post history). Two guys started at 8am one of them left around 5pm and another stayed till 6:30pm. Not sure thats 6800 worth but they were here for a while and will need to return to pass inspection

Remember, you never know how long a power outage is going to be when the power goes out. If you can find where and how it goes out, you can make an educated guess, and to a great degree, the more people that are out the better.

Yes, most are relatively short. But the long ones aren't apparent until it's too late.

But I suspect that if it was about 2 months ago, you'd have a completely different opinion on running the AC. And if you are on a heat pump, in about 3 months, you'll have yet a different opinion.

i.e. don't make assumptions. After about an hour, just shut down the non-essential items.

Our evenings/nights are really cool in the Bay Area. On a regular day in the summer AC is needed from lets say 1pm till around 6pm. Got to remember this is a backup emergency system, that I am expecting to use 4-5 times a year for an average of 4hours

No disrespect, but every situation requires assumptions, you never have all the info. I am not speculating. We did just go through 4 days of no power. All of this was considered, and no, we decided NOT to shut down all non-essential items.

There was a single supercharger nearby that still had power, and we charged there after 2 days to get us another two days. I got up at 4am when I could unplug the truck with minimal interruptions, and not wait in line. As long as that supercharger stayed up, could have don’t this over and over.

I am not trying to be mean here, but it feels like you are telling me I did this wrong.

What if the Supercharger lost power?
During calamities of this scale, it's very possible that things that have to be one for the greater good could have taken the Supercharger offline for a period.

While indeed, this storm was unusual and getting all the way to Asheville was unheard of, stuff happens. I've been entrenched in Emergency Services for nearly 50 years. The one thing that you learn is that every situation is different. What works in one disaster probable won't for the next.

I'm not that far from you, I go up through Cherokee regularly, been to the Biltmore too many times to count, I remember Ghost Town in the Sky and Santa Land. (may have those names slightly off)
I was actively engaged in communications across the state of Georgia as the storm rolled through here.

The room that I'm in is backed up by a 400AH 48V system, there's a 60kW generator outside that auto-starts and I've got another generator in the shed and then two other 48V battery banks and 3 Teslas that were full.

About 10AM after the storm was well past us, my power went off. It stayed off for about an hour and if it had been much longer, then I'd start shutting things down.

The biggest reason is that unless I was a part of a widespread outage, the line crews were spread so thin, that it may take days to get back on.

And in your areas as well as South Georgia, there are still people without power.

You just never know, it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Did you do anything wrong? You made it through it, so it didn't matter.
But you depended on something, anything. If you had lost that, it might have been a different story.

As you can see, I don't really depend on anything, I try to have backups to backups to backups.

Should I end up relying on PowerShare, I'm gonna run the A/C, take hot showers, make dinner and watch Netflix. We're not animals ffs

My sentence was poorly worded, but I agree, you burn that energy and live like a king! ?

Go for it!

But then again that only brings you closer to living like animals quicker.

Ashville is an area in which the biggest disaster is normally isolated mudslides. Widespread disaster like this wasn't ever on the drawing boards.
