We had a storm two nights ago that caused a power outage (along with 500,000 neighbors). We were spared the outage because of my Cybertruck and PowerShare. Except for the A/C, everything in the house, plus the pool equipment, functioned perfectly for the 18+ hours that our power was down. The only downside: I couldn’t drive my truck.
You mentioned Powershare… Are you talking about the Powershare in the bed of the truck or did you get the Powershare home back up V3 hardware installed and that is what powered your house? How long did it take after the power went out before your power came back on?

PowerShare hardware and software. Very quick when the grid went down, but a minute or so down when the power came back on.

I'm just trying to get a rough idea on how well this would work. Sounds like you used the CT for about 18 hours. Any idea on before and after state of charge? How long do you think you could have used it, and still having enough left to drive to a SC?

The app said I was using about 1 average kw, and that I had enough charge for two days.

No, PowerShare is active on my car. It was plugged into the charger, and when the power failed, the house stayed lit.
I can see problems.

He can take the Model X to get beer.

When is the media going to reach out to @yrekabaker and get all the details so they can write a heart-warming story about how a newer American automaker is making life better for real Americans? 🤪

Outstanding!

Question: Why not the AC? I'm picking up my CT in a few weeks and getting my PowerShare installed sometime soon after.

The way they did the assessment, it appears the AC was going to be part of it. IS that not the case?

The A/C was excluded from the PowerShare setup- the reason given was that the power requirement was too high. Furnace still works though.
I think the Powershare limit for LRA is 120? I installed a "soft start" on my A/C compressor which dropped the startup current to under 30A.

Sounds like you need to install a soft start kit on that AC so you can power the AC too.

Powershare software isn't live yet, so how did it help you? It do you just mean the outlets on the truck helped you?
This seems to be the case for those who are doing the power wall method. If you don’t have a power wall and have the gateway installed from the foundation series insensitive, it would be enabled (at least that is my understanding)
Source: Tesla.com
“Powershare Home Backup functionality with Powerwall is expected to be available later this year through an over-the-air update.”

We are waiting for our PowerShare to be installed on our house and hoping that the 8kw solar we currently have can be integrated as well. In regard to the AC issue, the locked rotor amps (LRA) on a conventional AC are ofter too high for generators and back up systems. When shopping for replacement AC's keep an eye out for "inverter" and/or "variable speed" equipment as they have less start load than their running load in most cases. At least on the Trane variable speed equipment we sell/install.
