The Gateway hardware is included. I'd definitely push back on this. It's been clearly stated on the FS accessories detail. Also, see post #63 below.

Regarding the HVAC soft start. I didn't consider that you probably have a larger unit, so I guess that makes sense. My ductless mini split units are all on 20A breakers each.
I think the way I wrote this sounds funny. What I meant to say was that the install quote does not include the price of the V3 because the hardware is included by Tesla. So the total install cost is about $4800 for essentially labor and power cables.

Thanks for the clarification. Quote still seems high. Good luck to you and hope the install goes well!

I'm so confused. I thought the V3 Powershare Gateway and Universal Wall Charger were included in the foundation series. The quote I got from the powershare electrician didn't carve out either of these, which looks like I have to purchase both.

Still waiting for a VIN on my 1/17 AWD order in AZ, I got an email from Tesla a few weeks ago about the PowerShare and the company they would contact me (Car Charging Pros). Left some messages and finally someone called me back yesterday.
They said someone from Phoenix would contact me. He did say the average install is $2,500-5k, I told him I have solar (owned) a wall connector and the distribution box is directly on the other side of the garage wall. I upgraded it myself when I got a Tesla from my old plug in hybrid. The wire length was only 4ft and larger breaker and the cost was about $50 from Home Depot.

He said a lot of the cost was permits, engineering, and programming the V3 Gateway.
Just seems way over inflated, we'll see when I get mt quote.
I just got a quote from car charging pros. Also a 1/17 order no vin. Quote was $3800. I have third party solar and asked them if this could be integrated with solar. They said they didn’t know. Do you have any idea? Or is a power wall necessary to incorporate solar?

I'm also in Charlotte. My quote from Car Charging Pros was $4,819.96 (I also have third party solar). Interested to see how our quotes differ. Can I dm you?

I was told my solar would be used as well.
The guy also said they haven’t installed any yet and they’re waiting for some more orders and Tesla will send pallets of the V3 gateways.
I haven’t committed as I still don’t have a VIN yet.

I wonder if these installers have to kick back to Tesla, because they are more expensive than attorneys. No electrician is worth $1k/hour and we should be able to hire our own electrician.

I got my quote this week. Is there any reason to believe there are some hidden costs not shown? My cost is a round $3500 and the electrical run at my house is probably 125’ as my panel is in the opposite side of the house garage.

Where are you located? I got the exact same quote from Tesla. The only run I have is for the wall charger to go across my garage - 25ft. Did you ask the detailed plans? I did and received them separately. Of course I don’t understand them.

Got my proposal last night. I can't say I'm surprised, but I also don't know what to do. We don't have a lot of power outages in my area. Gotta spend 4k to own the 2400 in equipment.

That's not even a decent itemization.

And the soft-start seems like BS... Not that inrush current isn't a big deal, it's just a weird add-on to this small system.

At least the overall price is lower.

Anybody know how long we can sit and do nothing after receiving a quote before Tesla forces a credit on us instead of the PowerShare equipment? My quote, see below, was higher than anything else I’ve seen on this forum at almost $6,200. This seems nuts to me.

Just got the v3 box today. I have pictures if anyone is curious about how it looks. My local electrician whom I trust, says that after doing some research he will have to go through qmerit and that I should be ready for a 4k to 5k installation. That day qmerit left me a message to call. I live in a neighborhood with in ground electricity. We might get one full day of no electricity every 5 years. At times I was told the cyber truck would be able to power my entire house for over three days. My electrician says it is more realistic to expect one day with judicious use of electricity. I love my truck. It makes me very happy. Dealing with Tesla makes me very sad. The communication has been abysmal. This week I sat on hold for over an hour to get an invoice price from Tesla so I could get a 230 dollar rebate from my local utility company. I now have a heavy (but pretty) box that may never get installed. I am 4 months into ownership of the most expensive vehicle I have ever owned ... And I nearly branded my daughter when I tossed her my cellphone that had been charging inside the truck. I am a first time Tesla owner, long time fan. Maybe that is why I take it so hard when we are constantly given deadlines and watch them disappear in the nearly useless rear view mirror. I will let you know whaI learn from qmerit next week.

My quote also in FL was nearly $5k for a most simple install. It is a monopoly gouge at worst and not competitive at best. A dedicated home natural gas/propane generator including install is under $4k as a point of reference.

Does anyone have a reference to discuss/show an electrician how to 'back feed your house' to get a pro opinion for an individuals situation?
No way under $4k for gas generator + install, more like $10k at best.

10K get you the install and generator. Tesla needs to do better looking out for its customers. Let the free market work.
