Well, this explains why when I contacted Tesla trying to put in a preorder for one a few weeks ago, I was told that I was not able to place an order at this time….but the “you can order it once it’s officially released” response, now rings pretty hollow.

Very disappointed at this, it amounts to a bait and switch in my eyes. Having lived with the truck for a while now, I literally recently decided that I would need the range extender to really suit my purpose of over- landing. I literally bought the vehicle not knowing if I would need more range, or not. Knowing (thinking), that I would always have that option to pursue later if needed. Well, not so apparently.

But hey, on the brighter side… I guess I’m no longer a Tesla virgin!

Remind me, what state do you live in?
I live in Connecticut however I couldn’t get anywhere with my service center in November December so around Christmas time I made the appointment for February cause I move my truck down to Georgia in the Alpharetta Georgia service center. Took care of me on February 7. Next week I bring the truck back up to Connecticut cause I kept it down there for the winter. I didn’t want to get any Road salt on to Corode anything, I have an appointment on on June 7 look at the light bar and address the windshield wiper that’s got a mind of its own. Replace the cantrails and look at the rest of the body for adhesive fault

That sucks man. I remember your post vividly and thinking to myself, that sounds like a bunch of BS - but I held my tongue.

I feel like sometimes the folks at Tesla will just say whatever comes into their head without any concern as to whether it’s remotely true.

When they finally announced that the truck would not have the 500 mile range and they were doing this goofy range extender that still wouldn’t get it to 500 miles, I made my peace with my decision to go ahead and still get the CB. I figured I would just wait until they actually made the range extender and see what it really did, but giving up a third of the bed was never something I was keen on doing.

If I was not in a position to own multiple vehicles and just love the CT for what it is (even though it’s not what was promised), I would be pretty pissed off. But as it is, I’m sanguine with my decision and … “Hakuna MaTesla!”

?… It means more worries, for the rest of my days! See— my problem be, range anxi-e-ty! Hakuna MaTesla! ?

Tesla Cybertruck Range Extender Officially Cancelled! F93350F4-3387-4C43-92DA-C09B1F06A6DA

Extra Credit:

The phrase “no range” in Swahili, using the most literal and idiomatic construction, would be:

“Hakuna umbali” — literally, “There is no distance” or “No range.”

I do think the extender was just a way to lower the disappointment for the buyers who were expecting the 500 mile pack from the original announcement. So instead of pissing off those people they could say hey we have this to make up for it coming soon. Then they didn't get as many reservations for the extender to make it worth actually designing and producing it.

Grounds for a class action lawsuit. Many bought the truck knowing that this would come along to help. Sue em.

When they finally announced that the truck would not have the 500 mile range and they were doing this goofy rage and standard that still wouldn’t get it to 500 miles I made my peace with my decision to go ahead and still get the CB. I absolutely love the truck, it’s the coolest vehicle I’ve ever owned…I still love it, and likely will not be parting with it. However, not real happy with Tesla corporate right now.

I went into this eyes wide open though, I was warned stuff like this could likely happen with them…

I brushed off the recent incentives offered after my full boat purchase as being expected…and was totally fine not getting lifetime super charging or other perks now routinely being offered. This actually hits different though, as it affects how I can use the truck for my intended purpose of recreation.

It is still awesome as a commuter…?... or short trails and short excursions…but my goal of extended overlanding trips now needs to be recalibrated.

Well, like I said, I’m no longer a Tesla virgin. I’ll just add, and it really sucks.?

is that audible from outside? Or inside speakers? ?
Outside speakers, I know because I was farting the truck while my wife was at a parking lot at a busy soccer practice for the kids last weekend..

She claimed I was a child.. To which I wholeheartedly agreed, love this damn thing..

I bought a Alto Safari Condo R171, 2-3000 lbs.. 17' long, vertically retractable. It folds out but still is 17'. 1st trip last month, 50 degrees average temps, all season tires. 3 full charges, 192 mi per charge average, 55 mph 25%, 60 mph 75%, 40 mi no trailer. I'm so very very disappointed in Tesla right now. I really hope I can trade up for a bigger battery

If they release a truck with more range, you'd have to trade your truck for the new one, but if you believe Elon, they have no intention of doing that.

Guess I’ll wait for the 500 mi Model 2 then.
