Rear View/Blind Spot monitor interest?

As we know, the CT is going to a 48V low voltage architecture. Interesting thing is, Power over Ethernet (PoE) is also nominally 48V. This may or may not be implemented in the CT, or it could be CanBus, or considering Elon, Can-i-Bus. Either way, I've found a supplier of 7.0-12.3" monitors designed to place side mirrors in Semis. I'm considering a package/kit, that would either use the video already used by the truck (the wheel arch camera) and/or a stalk mounted camera (replacing the side mirror). This tall and skinny monitor would attach somewhere around the "mini-B" pillar and the dash, giving you a natural place to look for the traffic. A possible driver's monitor with a feed from the rear tailgate camera overlayed with your speed and range is also an option. This might also migrate to the 3/Y at some point, but right now the timelines fit the CT pretty well.

My question is, what is your level of interest in something like this? I'll pursue it even if it's just for me. But if there is interest, I'll do the extra work to make it a kit you could install at home.

Might want to spend some time driving in Models S 3 X or Y to access how their blind spot visibility feature already being built in works with the U/I screen, both with camera inset displays and the surrounding car visualizations.

Although your post doesn't yet compare specifics compared to existing Tesla U/Is, I'm sensing a desire to alleviate clutter/bottleneck and free up the U/I screen real estate while also keeping a blind spot visual display up full time, rather than in the way the U/I is currently doing it. You might want to clarify what you feel is inadequate with Tesla's current implementation, and what concisely could be improved by your idea.

I see nothing wrong with auxiliary screen options to free up U/I clutter or overlays, as I think the single U/I screen at times may be bottle-necked or too multi-purposed which adds cumbersome delays to get at certain functions. That's why I also am a fan of the [S3XY] buttons and aftermarket Heads Up Display (HUD) screens (even though strangely I've still not purchased either yet).

I think when you show more concisely what improvements could be realized in the driving experience (compared to the current Tesla U/I), and/or provide a demonstration of that in real-time, more interest might be generated.

I've spent a number of weeks driving a 3/Y rental. I want to see the blind spot BEFORE I hit the turn signal. And I don't want to give up the map space to display them full time. I also think the display is easier to adapt to when it is where you are used to seeing it. Not that you can't adapt, but someone who drives one occasionally isn't likely to adapt back and forth well. Like my wife won't be driving the CT full time, and so she would have to adapt to both. I especially think the left mirror takes extra time to look to the right to see traffic to the left.

I'm also looking to eliminate the mirrors on the CT, and I think an always on display is better than the "as soon as you turn on your turn signal" display as the mirror or always on display aids in situational awareness and traffic planning. When I order the 3 or Y later this summer, I'll put the driver's display aftermarket on it to make it more S like. At night, it is a bit odd to look down to check your speed and see NOTHING! Distracts you for a moment!

I want to remove the side mirrors and add the mini displays in the Mini B-Pillar spot. Hopefully that box/speaker on the pillar can be the POE/48V and mounting point.

Considering no side mirrors was the initial design intention with Cybertruck, I think there is a good chance the screens could be offered in house.

Would be nice if they had the trucks pre-wired and then the screens sold as an accessory on the shop. Knowing Tesla unlikely to happen though.

I have a left eye vision issue so love the idea of additional displays.

I was annoyed when they added the left/right visual in the new S/X drivers display but did not added it to the legacy S/X that have MCU2s (ie. infotainment computer handles both large and drivers display).

I don't follow the mini-B-pillar comment as I would think it'd be the mini-A-pillar (like below)?

Yes they do have the traffic display, however the traffic to the rear of the vehicle is not displayed to any great distance. There is no "hacking" into the Tesla wiring, and no warranty voiding. There are already kits you can buy to add a driver's display (with or without apple/android car play) and rear seat display to the 3/Y, complete kits, and your warranty is not voided.

Disagree. I think it would be quite popular provided the install is easy, which admittedly is a big if.

Ideally you'd even have the display show two separate camera feeds, like on the Tesla Semi. One from the fender cam to act as the side view mirror and then a feed from the B-pillar cam to help with the A-pillar blind spot, which is rather large on the Cybertruck.
