The top piece between the roof glass and the tonneau. Two T30 screws underneath, one on each side. Be careful putting them back in as they will cross thread easily. Sorry for the low quality pictures. First pic shows the trim piece. Second photo shows that when looking from inside the bed the foam seal was hanging down. Third pic shows the gap in the seal.

Thanks! That’s where mine is leaking. I poured some water onto the seal where it meets the roof glass and it came right into the bed

I took mine apart and I don’t have that foam piece at all. There’s a hollow rubber seal at the front that looks like it’s supposed to make contact with the foam underneath the rear edge of the glass. It doesn’t seem to make contact so I may try adding another seal in there. My truck was built 6/10 so maybe this is a newer design (but one that still leaks)

Here’s what mine looks like. No foam.

I think I’m just gonna slap a strip of FlexTape on the underside and call it good.

I've been checking every CT I've had the opportunity to look at and I've seen that same gap on all of the recent VINs so far. I did see some early VINs (<3000) and those did not have that gap.

I ended up adding a piece of foam weatherstripping along the back edge of the metal roof structure. It forces the rubber gasket to seal tightly to the glass. So far no leaks.

Okay after some investigation, think I found another problem. I reviewed the Munro Live video of the Tonneau cover overview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMgU_MFs2oU. At approx. 1:41 the engineer stated there are 29 slats. I counted from the tailgate end first to the cabin area. I got to the 28th slat and that's where the drain hole slat appeared. So I'm missing the 29th one, cause the drain hole slat should be up further down the rotation of the device. Put a service request in. Thanks for your investigation too.

Also the drilled holes were drilled after they made the part. (see bare metal and burrs on holes- this is a quality issue).

Let us know what service centers come back with. I find this missing slat / vault hole issue to be something that seems really off to me.

According to my SC, they think all newer CTs they've seen have those holes showing while the older ones didn't. They had mine and another (Feb delivery) at the SC there. They both leaked the same, but mine had the holes and theirs didn't. They said they saw a CT picked up around the same time as mine and it had the holes exposed. Oddly, mine was more tight to the tailgate than the one without the holes.

I noticed the same thing, every single new CT delivery I've seen as of late has the holes to some extent, but not the earlier VINs. It could be a change in the process or wondering if something else has happened.

Not sure, but their answer was that it was "normal".

That's an odd "normal". I'm adding it to my service request too. I'll give calibration a try. I did back it off a nudge with the controls to make it disappear.

I have exactly the same (28 slat) lay out on my cybertruck. It does look odd. I checked few other cybertruck on the area and they have similar issue. I’m curious to hear what service is saying

I have the same issue 28 slats . took it to the service center. They said it was within normal spec and return it. I have requested a new service request to replace the gasket. The service advisors don't really seem to care as they pretend they're not aware of these issues we are having

I also noticed the gasket between the tonnage in the window had started coming off already

My Service center also says it’s normal (I just had it in for that ”missing“ piece), so I assume the early builds of CTs had that extra 29th slat while newer builds do not.

But the leaking is a real problem and I suspect the switch to the new approach did not include enough training on ensuring the foam and rubber insulation is fully seated and secured. Those are now the only manner to divert water away from the bed and I bet mine looks like many of yours and is poorly installed.

I assume Tesla will soon (or has already) improve that install process so this likely affects a few months of VINs - lucky early adopters that we are. So I’m going in today to talk through my options for fixing the seal a bit better.

Service has been very patient and willing to hear my complaints by the way and they are sure it’s not a missing piece. I believe them and think this is an install/design change that isn’t quite perfect yet.
