Does the top (forward end) of your vault cover look like this? It looks like something is missing and mine leaks like crazy in the slightest of rain.

Here’s a better pic. It looks like something is missing. Can someone confirm if this is normal?

That doesn't look normal. If your tailgate was in the up position when the photo was taken, I wonder if you might be short one slat. I would have Tesla Service look at it.

Otherwise it might be deploying too far (past the tailgate) and require calibration. This looks like something that could happen if it was calibrated with the tailgate dropped.

Mine doesn’t show that perforated section as much but it is letting tons of water in at the front of the bed. I expect/assume there will be some leaking near tailgate but the last 2 days of rain have the whole front wall/window area soaked and water pooling a bit. Set up a service for this and some door alignment and hoping it can be resolved.

Thanks for the prompt replies (my tailgate was closed when the pic was taken). I guess I’ll be scheduling my first service appointment.

Keep us apprised. Mine looks similar to yours however even during a high pressure wash and down pours of rain my bed has been staying pretty dry with just some drops/drips up by the cab.

I had a closer look at mine and determined you are not missing a slat, it looks like one of two things is happening:

1) The trim piece in front of the tonneau is too far forward (less likely)

2) The tonneau is calibrated to compress the tailgate seal too much (more likely).

It could also be a little of both. I calibrated my tonneau cover the second day of ownership and it stopped as soon as the compressible rubber seal touched the tailgate (it might have compressed it a mm or two). If it had kept going until the seal was well compressed, it would look just like yours.

No harm in having Tesla Service look at it (they won't charge you a penny). It seems like more of an aesthetic issue. I can look down into the crack and see that piece with the exposed fastener heads in it when my tonneau is closed, it's just about 1/2" less closed than yours.

I recently noticed this on my tonneau as well. The top slat is slightly askew, so the “perforations” are only visible on the drivers side. Oddly, the bottom of the tonneau is straight and flush to the tailgate.

I don’t recall seeing this gap before, so I’m guessing that the slats have a “break-in” period? ?‍♂

I’ve no idea if this gap causes water intrusion, it never rains here lol

I've heard this is a calibration issue or a missing gasket issue. I'd follow up with a service ticket item.

Following as my cover appears the same. I get a good bit of water in the front of the bed when it rains. Much more than I would expect. I don’t expect it to be totally dry in there, but I had some cardboard that was pretty much soaked.

Upon further inspection I cannot see light from inside the bed with the cover closed. I removed the trim piece and found that, similar to others reports, the foam seal contained a gap and was completely unattached in another area. I removed it and replaced it with a new larger foam seal and now am just waiting for rain to see if it is any drier in the bed.

Which trim piece did you remove and how did you do it?

The top piece between the roof glass and the tonneau. Two T30 screws underneath, one on each side. Be careful putting them back in as they will cross thread easily. Sorry for the low quality pictures. First pic shows the trim piece. Second photo shows that when looking from inside the bed the foam seal was hanging down. Third pic shows the gap in the seal.
