Testing can be hidden by other manufacturers, sure. However, there is no way the cybertruck was out testing without anyone knowing. So you either believe extensive tow testing was done secretly, somewhere, on another planet or 2) You don’t believe it’s important to stress test such a new product.
Also, I’m an early reservation holder but have seen zero motivation this is a great product since the initial unveil. Only those with true dogma can excuse this. Hope I’m wrong.
What I shared was, lack of information cannot lead to a conclusion.

Time will tell on the CTs performance. I am patient.

I know people think it was useless/pointless/gimmick, but you can reduce any feature advertised to be just that. Falcon wing doors? Stainless steel skin? more acceleration than you could use outside of a drag strip?
All gimmicks.
but don’t get it twisted and conflate two different things

you just listed features that stand on their own, and if you think they reduce to gimmicks, fine

But the analogy here isn’t, eg., “more acceleration than you can use outside a drag strip,” and at roadster release showing a video of it smoking a Bugatti

The analogy would instead be Tesla at roadster release showing a video of a roadster smoking a Corolla, and the audience going wild, then re-raising it for the next 4 years as “proof” the CT is faster than anything Toyota makes

at this point, you may be thinking “that Corolla analogy doesn’t seem right”

which is the point: with familiarity with towing/pulling the Corolla analogy makes straightforward sense

anyone who doesn’t, doesn’t

That’s irony: someone tries to defend that pulling video as having meaning, is typically unwittingly showing their tail feathers

eg:

I like how a series of vehicles with widely varied performance gets lumped together (F-Series)...
Not like they have common frames, power plants, suspensions...
nothing you just listed has to do with that pulling video

the video comes down only to relative weight and tires (and 4 vs 2 wheel drive(

put the CT in different tires, and put sandbags in and new tires on the 2WD F150, and it would pull the CT around

that’s how dumb it is

exactly the point. Testing is typically done under company secret. Just because leaks did not occur does not mean the testing does not exist.

I do wonder the intention of the OP. Is the intention to lament the lack of public data on CT towing? Or, is the OP asserting testing did not occur at all due to no direct knowledge? Or, what other intention could there be?
Ford tested and the towing still sucked.. but yes, it is possible the CT has tested towing.

regrettably, you’re just making the point

People who understand towing/trucks/pulling, we’re laughing at the Silicon Valley black-tees who cheered at this video

Not to suggest Ford and others don’t do their fair share of such stunts to impress people who don’t understand trucks

but except for people who don’t know better, these stunts are carnival tricks whose rhetorical power start and finish with misleading illusions
I didn't say that the event was an apples to apples comparison. I listed what the competition accomplished to me, as a non-BEV owner, a neutral consumer and a gear-head / car guy.

Yes, Ford and the other legacy Big Three have done similar stunts, both corporate and in their dealership network. The "stealership" euphemism is well earned.

Critical thinking shows it was a pointless gimmick.
A heavier 4x4 truck pulls a lighter 4x2 truck.

The other trucks have evolved to provide the functionality and features that truck buyers have said they wanted. Features+function vs non-mudane style. Cybertruck has the stainless-steel body going for it. Glass is TBD. V1+V2 Supercharger addl access is another plus. Efficiency is TBD. $ TBD. Electrical work plugs TBD.

It is unclear how many CTs will be sold to non-Tesla fans. I haven't seen evidence of it. Unclear how many Tesla non-truck people will buy and then regret having truck size and bed (feature).

Ford, GM, and others trucks have shown to have more functionally and interior "styling".

See above. I understand the mechanics of the competition. That doesn't diminish the 3 things I stated that it achieved.
I'm a non-Tesla owner and a non-BEV owner. I also have a (very early) Silverado EV reservation. I have 2 GM cars.
I like the Silverado EV exterior style.
What I don't like is the 1500 pound payload rating among other things.

Let's make a list of things we don't see the CT doing on public roads and act like Tesla hasn't considered it in CT design/testing/manufacturing.

I have a sneaking suspicion they'll have plenty of test and promo footage along with specs at the upcoming official CT announcement.

You're not wrong. It can't tow. Everyone cancel pre orders.

Tesla's Cybertruck Tug-of-War Stunt Was Pointless
Engineering Explained - 3.56M subscribers
'Engineering Explained' by someone who hasn't Built or Implemented any EVs, is what's really 'Pointless'. Now if Jason Fenske had his own company building EVs with a proven track record of success, then I'd see more credibility. There are many people out there with engineering or technical degrees.

Graduating with an engineering degree is only a beginning set of knowledge with which to begin doing something real. It is not an end all of experience, expertise, or bragging rights to leverage. What one actually does with a degree over time is the real story that time will tell.

I think Jason Fenske should've waited until he could access a Cybertruck to do a demonstration of his own and substantiate his points, instead of being impatient to dismiss Tesla's demonstration.

His youtube channel might help him pay his student loans or other though, as I'm sure many people watch him.

Testing, schmesting! Us early adopters will pay Tesla to do the testing.. We are going to buy an innovative new design without even a test drive.

If your reservation number is within the first 190,000, I agree wholeheartedly.
Oh not me. I'm not cancelling. Just, everyone else should.

I'll take one for the team. Begrudgingly

Given their experience with the Semi development they may not need any real world testing.

They know the weight, battery capacity, and power of the CT. Given those variables and the known performance of the Semi. They can extrapolate performance under tow. They can do virtual and real world load testing to verify the numbers.

I’m not worried. It’s all math. Real world testing just verifies the math and simulations.

Wait what?!? The fact that he shows his step by step approach, physics, and math make him credible.

With as many people that watch his videos/work they would have called him out if he was wrong.

You don't need to have first-hand experience in making an EV to understand the physics and math of forces, weight, and energy.

And let me ask this, @DMC-81 - if Ford released a video of an F650 pulling a CT around, you think that would be a “wake-up call” to Musk and Tesla?

sure as hell hope not
I don't think so as the wake up call was that EV trucks are coming, from the most successful EV company to date.

A CEO who would only focus on the fairness of the competition doesn't deserve to be CEO.

I remember Blackberry users sneering about the newly released iPhone and it's absence of a tactile keyboard.
