You apparently have never had to get creative moving things.

This is a 12.5 foot piece of pipe or 2x4. If it’s PVC pipe which I’ve often had to get into my Subaru, you could easily get 15 foot sections inside the truck by bending it down to the floorboards.

Been doing similar things in my Subaru and Model Y for decades.

Instead of trying to hold with your hand you secure things properly.

It is hard to secure things properly in a car because there are no or few anchor points but in a truck you usually have multiple anchor points.

To keep the long objects from shifting forward you put a sling over the forward part of the object with the ropes of the sling mounted to multiple anchor points in the truck bed and maybe two on the roof. If no official sling the job can be done just using rope.

With a truck you can secure most of these things from moving forward just using ropes and the anchor points. No special devices needed.

Elon has blurted out that Cybertruck would have both 4 wheel steering and boat mode after never mentioning either of them from 2019 reveal until a couple years after the 2019 reveal when we got his "official" tweet that Cybertruck would have both ( though we do not know if it all models or just higher models).

Only about 6 months following the 2019 reveal, Elon was asked in a tweet about mid-gate and Elon replied it was worth consideration.

We have seen prototypes with things not on reveal prototype like driver displays, BAW, no exterior door handles, and more.
Patents for laser cleaning glass, HD radar, steer by wire, and many more.

Elon has said bed/vault would have some climate control.
2013 Chevy Avalanche pickup truck had mid-gate
2024 GMC/Chevy Sierra/Silverado EV will have mid-gate.

There will probably be more surprises on Cybertruck official launch day in summer 2023 :)

Tesla Cybertruck: Elon Musk considers folding rear window for extra storage
By Fred Lambert | Jun 11 2020

People at the Tesla Truck Club thought of a concept to make the storage space even bigger:

------

It would be great if the Cybertruck's rear window could roll down into the rear wall and then the whole wall fold in on top of folded rear seats.
Perfect for camping when Tonneau is closed, and for carrying things longer than 8’

Worth considering

I would agree, you would also have the advantage to at least close the Toneu cover 85-90% of the way. I do that with my R1t and at least I can feel safe doing a couple more errands without fear of someone grabbing something out of the bed super easily. Unless I'm missing some way to close the toneu while being able to pass people/things through a midgate?

Midgate is the cats meow for hauling big stuff.

But a window is super handy too.

In the end, it’s a pickup and hauling is mostly an outdoor thing.

I do not understand why the confusion either. We have several posters here stating we want these items completely enclosed in the cabin-vault and why.

-------
If vault is open or just the tail gate is down and item sticks out:

Objects are visible for thieves to see.
Objects are easier to steal (thieves can more easily cut ropes/straps, etc).
If just one item is long and sticks out by opening vault/tailgate all other small items in the bed are more easily stolen.
Maybe thieves are not an issue where you live but not all of us are as fortunate.

Objects not protected from rain and snow without needing to wrestle wrapping with tarp.
If most of the time tarp is not needed, most of the time it just takes up room in bed/vault, less available for other stuff.

Objects sticking out are more susceptible to being hit by or hitting pedestrians, cyclist or other vehicles.

** Cybertruck has shorter range because ultimate aero-dynamic shape is disturbed. **

-------

Other advanges with vault closed
easier & better area for dogs to move between cabin-vault.
easier & better area for passenger to move between cabin-vault during camping mode.

How do you close the vault with an object blocking the path? Seems way to overly complex and ready to break..
I don't mind having the feature, I just don't see how the midgate is open when the cover is closed..

Before loading the vault is closed with the tail-gate down (open).
Load item through open tail-gate. After long item is inside you close the tail gate.

This is same jockeying you do with long items and sedans with pass-through.
Open trunk, fish the long item through back seat area. Might need to help things along from rear seat side door area ( during loading, help by a 2nd person at rear side door can be real useful. Might not need the help of 2nd person during unload).

Appreciate the explanation ?. There would have to be a method.
This seems 4 times more complex than the R1T, and I cringe waiting for mine to bind up.

I don't care about mid gate, but I really hope they add the driver's display.
Isn't the driver's display even an optional add-on on the model 3 in the model y so wouldn't it be the same for the cyber truck?
