I believe that is the change which has helped to generate the entire "snub nose/steeper windshield/front wheels moved back" myth. It might have just been an aesthetic change made when the sills of the side windows were lowered. They're not lowered much - from an overlay I did it looks as if it's probably not even an inch - but that still moves the front "spearpoint" of the windows several inches forward.I think they shortened the SS good portion at the glass. It used to seem like the hood extended about 3” back further.
If you don't move the front edge of the windscreen to match, it would simply look odd. Of course there might be some other reason entirely, but the position of the front edge of the windscreen relative to the side window spearpoint seems not to have changed even though the spearpoint HAS moved.
