I just watched a video of his today where he defended FSD while driving on a clear highway. Not the best way to defend a system whose limitations show primarily on city streets.
IMO, a lot of cars can drive passably on a divided highway. What really shows of just how advanced FSD is, is driving on city streets and rural roads, paved or not. FSD has advanced quite a bit just since spring of this year and is quite impressive, even though it still requires human backup.

He is selling those cars in the tens of thousands (rather than hundreds of thousands planned)
Tesla never planned to sell either the Model S or Model X in the hundreds of thousands annually. Elon always said the Models S&X would be lower volume, higher priced luxury cars that would fund the development of the affordable Model 3.

Why did you think Tesla planned to sell them in higher volumes? They were always just stepping stones and now they keep them around largely for sentimental reasons. They are completely unimportant to Tesla's growth and earnings potential.

I don't know if I'd say the S and X are unimportant to the growth - they're grease for the wheels and the razzle on the dazzle.

Honestly, if Tesla wasn't so cell-and-production constrained I bet they'd invest in upgrading their ability to make the S/X with castings and whatnot, because there is a market for more than they're making. But they can't address that market at their current cost and not tank their profitability.

Tesla is going full throttle to disrupt transport. Model S and X are the stepped on stepping stones.

The too much to digest topic:
The future is not just about selling cars. The future is about putting 10 million cars per year on the road as autonomous public transport. Hola Mexico

... and service centers. I get that the vehicle sales are lower than a larger metropolitan area, but they'd service a huge area. the closest one to me is 10 hours away and they've stopped mobile service. the largest impediment up here to selling more Teslas is simply how do you get service?

You're in a small town that's also very remote. It's like, say, you lived in Crescent City, California.

I find it weird that he thinks the pricing of the Lightning or eSilverado are remotely relevant to Tesla’s pricing strategy.

Tesla prices cars based on ICE vehicle pricing and always has. He compares Model Y pricing to the Mach E pricing, but Tesla didn’t give a damn about Mach E or LYRIQ pricing back in January when they dropped the price on the Y by $15k. Other brands price based on Tesla pricing, not the reverse.

...People are a bit more spread out in Del Norte.

But there's not 100k people in your town, according to wiki. There's not a Tesla service center in Santa Cruz, either.

Wiki isn't correct about my town's population.

I'd be happy if they ( Tesla ) restored mobile service to us.

Elon should release a few different special Editions of the Cybertruck; MARS Edition, SpaceX Edition, Plaid Edition, Falcon 9 Edition, either Tri-motor or Quad-Motor set-up. All they need are a few strategically placed decals inside and out and they'll sell out!
I'll take the SpaceX Quad-Motor Edition please :D
