Trying to summarize Price / Range / Payload

View attachment 30853
great info and graphic as usual

my openly peeve would be to not accidentally play too far into narrative that the range extender is merely a range extender

yes, it will extend range (and payments!), but it will also leave you without a truck (3’ bed), and cram the payload

should be fast with that weight over the rears, though! ?

yeah, people thinking these things will be getting moved around and disconnected from the truck willy-nilly have an envious sort of optimism
The only way I could see it happening without the service center is using the air suspension, and it being on a Tesla built rack.
You lower suspension back under it, then raise it back up.
But again, you’ve just sacrificed a big chunk of the bed.

Hey thanks. Spreadsheets help me think more clearly. I get things wrong and just re-adjust.

That bed issue will cause some folks consternation for sure.

That bed range extender has some more complications!!
  • cooling? (must be separate)
  • if added later (years) does it play 'nice' with a degraded base battery?
nice = charging speed; low SOC before single digits; high SOCat '100%'
  • once installed is it 'permanent' and if you take it how where/how stored
(perhaps take it out and store it at a Tesla mini-storage OR is Tesla going to eventually rent them for road/hunting/camping/etc trips

Man i hope there are a lot of cancellations. I'll just get the dual now, not the tri lol. Shit's pricey!
I agree Originally ordered the Tri but now I don't see $30k more for a few miles difference and more horsepower and towing. And have to still buy the range extender if the goal was to get near 500 mi. Instead of the armored vehicle specs would rather have seen the range and price closer for say $79k. But with the demand of over 1.3 million vehicles. The demand says it all. I hope the batter extender can be combined to be used as a power back up for home use. Even better if It can be removed with out to much hassle and used as a power wall. In my area power outages normal in the the winter.

It will all come down to the day I have to decide and what the stock price is as well as where I am on my savings plan. i don't want to finance.

With only $100 on the line, I'll wait it out for now.

I added in the top right section to show the cost of getting 440 miles now vs prev 500.

All wheel steer on all models standard or option? Don't see it as an option in build.

If they don't drop prices after 1 year, I'm willing to bet production craters to S/X levels. I wonder if that's not the plan already. I mean, they have the $25k model in the works and have decided to build it in Austin. If they use 4680's for that as well, they'll want to prioritize those cells for the small vehicle. This would be a smart move, if that's the case. But who knows. I'm probably just reading too much into it and they did this just because they know there's enough people for the next year who will buy it. Exactly like the model 3 rollout (with the exception that the range actually met expectations)
I think they know they set the supply demand curve. Economics says that at a high price you have a smaller group willing to pay. Well guess what, they have low production right now so that’s perfect. They are just going to follow that supply demand curve. And they will sell all they can make. That just means we have to wait for those eager folks who are willing to pay some crazy amount for a vehicle to all buy them we will get our chance when it drops $10k
