How do you jumpstart an ICE vehicle from a Tesla?

I recall the Leno video with the engineers and I'm almost certain they said that one cybertruck/CT could jump another one. Anyone recall that? It was around the time they said you could jump a CT from either 12v or a 48v system and it would adjust automatically.

Random question for the group... Also, I would love to be able to (and photograph as proof) jumpstart a dead ICE vehicle from my Cybertruck one day.

How do you jumpstart an ICE vehicle from your Tesla? The only thing I am visualizing is to plug in an electric battery charger from the vault of the Cybertruck and hook the jumper cables to the terminals of a dead ICE vehicle... But I am hoping there is a simpler solution.

I think once a photograph of a Cybertruck jumpstarting an ICE F-150 would be a great photo to have in the archives. haha

With the older versions, while it was possible, it wasn't really recommended. Too many sensitive electronics tied to it.

On the newer vehicles, they have 16V batteries with very low capacity. Just don't do it.

On the Cybertruck with small 48V battery, yea, way to see 100k go down the drain.

In the video and a couple post above yours the engineers said you could jump another car on the side of the road.

Also, you can just have a Tesla turned ON and the DC-DC converter will supplement the "48v" rail in the case of jumping a CT from a CT.

I believe the statement was that you can jump a Cybertruck with 12V, not the other way.

Jumping a Cybertruck is VERY DIFFERENT than jumping an ICE. Jumping a Cybertruck or other Tesla/EV is just raising the battery voltage high enough for the computers to come on.

Jumping a ICE is hooking to a device that's about to throw crap all over the 12V circuit. The alternators kicking in, starter engaging, starter disengaging all throw tremendous transients on the circuit.

Have you read the Model X manual, pretty sure that it isn't recommended. And it probably has a 12V battery.

I’ve had a couple of those small lithium jump packs. Junk. The larger 12v units with a sealed lead acid battery work better and some include a small compressor.
but the newest unit is a super capacitor that uses the power left in your own battery to give it a quick Burst of energy. In fact you don’t even charge it until you need it. It can be charged from a usb cable or a 12 volt battery, or even the partially dead vehicle needing the jump.
Price is more than standard jump starters, but the capacitor doesn’t go dead like all the battery powered jumper packs.

I swear by these and have one in every car...including my Tesla. Either to jump another ICE, or, jump my 12v computer if need be (although I've never actually had to try this).

Yeah, that is why I was wondering if there was a certain unit you recommended. I always check all the reviews, but as you know, only some can be trusted. Word of mouth recommendations are always the best IMO.
