Interesting, I just got my VIN yesterday and the SC said my truck is still in Texas. When I asked about timing, there was a bit of a pause and said typically rail to KC is generally quick within the week. Then they said unforeseen circumstances out of their control may delay this. I’m 6800 range so maybe resolved when built yesterday.
Yes, interesting. I got my VIN Wednesday, a Tesla rep said mine rolled out of the factory at 7:52 Wednesday morning and then boom!, I found it on the lot in Colorado Springs yesterday (Friday). Delivery day is Wednesday (17th) and that hasn’t been postponed yet ??

We have the same delivery date! I am proactively reaching out to Tesla through the app to ask if this issue affects my delivery. I’ll post their response

Good luck! I hope you guys don't get delayed like me... They said on Monday they should have some better answers for me. Fingers crossed it is a minor issue. The ironic thing is I could have picked it up on Friday, but I would rather it be right and not die on the way home... Although I would probably be smiling...

Keep me posted, so far so good on Wednesday deliveries. Maybe it’s an easy fix and they can just airmail out the parts Monday and get the trucks fixed asap.

To gain a sense of how complex the SBW system is I recommend viewing this Cybertruck tear down video from Autoline and SoftCare.

The amount of part numbers is mind blowing compared to a conventional steering setup.

The SBW section starts around 4:19 and ends around 12:50. The video also explains the 48v battery, cross beam to support the dash, etc.

This happened to me too, I was hoping my first message here was going to be of excitement but i was devastated to get this message 12 hrs before my pickup in LA. However this forum made me calm down and appreciate this community of owners and fans that gave more info than Tesla did. If it’s for safety and not someone else picking up my beast im ok with that just wish the message wasn’t so vague. In these situations clear is kind and unclear is unkind. Thanks for the post and messages

And it seems like the article reeks of click-bait. With a whole bunch of parts they are not all going to be made in the US.
The Cybertruck is a brand new vehicle with 6,000 or so on the road. Being one of the first to get it there is always a chance of something is not quite right. I’m picking mine up on Wednesday and I’m willing to take that chance.
I had a Wednesday pick up too, BUT it was CANCELED (I presume due to the accelerator recall). My Service Center is in Colorado Springs. VIN last four is: 60xx.

Yeah all the media hate the cybertruck and Tesla so everything has to be taken with a grain of salt. I can tell you though Monday morning if this is a true recall for all the trucks this will be Frontline news on every single major media network. Cuz they will pounce on a chance to trash Tesla.

Everyone saying that this is a surprise that this part for the steering rack was made in Mexico it literally says right on the window sticker for the truck 65 us 25 the rest of North America.
I guess that makes 10% mysterious.

How about take the 10% off the window sticker?

Delivery from Kennesaw GA today cancelled. Eta hopefully 1 week maybe more. Tentatively rescheduled 1 week out.

Bummer for sure but here's hoping to a quick turnaround.

I could be off a little on the percentages too. I was just going off of memory. LoL
Your memory is correct, the window sticker says 65% U.S./Canadian parts and 25% Mexico parts. It doesn't say where the remaining 10% comes from, probably chips and circuit boards from S. Korea, China, etc.

The Goodyear tires and a lot of the injection molded parts, like the frunk tub, are made in Mexico, wheels too, I think.

It also lists where major components were assembled:

Vehicle: Texas
Motor: USA
Gearbox/transmission: USA
Battery: Texas
On-board charger: Texas

I think this is highly likely
Could be just a bad batch.
I think this is highly likely. VIN 216 and have not had any recalls published on my vehicle yet.

I’m at over 2000 miles with only a tonneau cover button problem.

Nobody can know if they have recalls published on their vins because tesla is blocking that server connection to NHTSA, as well as to the vin lookup on their site. Now that there is a potential recall/safety issue, I hope they get into legal trouble for not having this information available. At this point it doesn't matter if they want to block us from tracking their production numbers with vin lookups, there's no excuse to keep the information hidden.

All very valid points.

But at the end of the day, they have to publish the recall information publicly. For instance like the software related icon issue a month ago…
