This real life prep and application hassle has me doubting purchasing the kit once I get my CT.

I may just let my CT patina naturally over the years and give it the occasional wash.
I would avoid it unless you can do it indoors. My garage is too small since the front is taken up by washer/dyer and a door way into the house. My CT will block the door and I probably can't close the garage door. I did it outside and bugs just kept landing in the coat as soon as I applied it. They would even land on the doors.

I had a pretty hard time as well. For some reason the applicator seems to be giving off lint and air bubbles, no matter how gently I interact with the truck surface or the container of coating. I tried 3 times trying to get the right amount of coating without worrying about the dust or bubbles, and I could not get the right thickness across an entire panel. Some places it looked good, but other places it rainbowed. And the self leveling does work, but it's not magic. So you have to do a very even application for it to level.

After trying the hood 3 times I haven't tried again.

Also, acetone works fine, but you have to frequently change which surface of the rag you are wiping with. never wipe with the same section of rag more than once. It took me 6 or 7 rags, changing to a fresh surface with each wipe, to remove the coating from my hood. Before I started using a fresh rag surface for each wipe, all I was doing was smearing the coating around
I have yet to see a good experience, including my own.

Having done it, it’s nice to have, but the finish bothers me. I would recommend people wait to buy this until someone figures out how to apply this well, or another costing is found that is easier.

I've noticed problems with dark spots showing up the next day. So not a fan of the general procedure detailed here at all... In my case they seem to have been caused from the glass cleaners, and/or other high alkaline cleaners.

It's important to rinse after whatever you try, very well.

I would suggest you try any tests on the frunk first instead of the doors. It's easier to get it back to normal it you want to remove an offending result later.

I used a very diluted Citrisurf (80% water) to get the dark spots off the second time it happened and then rinsed it well and dried. - perfect.

The wash Zaino makes, Z-7 is very good, especially if diluted greatly. I've used the rest of the Zaino system on other cars, but the rest of the premium system is really for clear coated cars. The mild wash they make works great on Stainless though.
I agree, a good rinsing and wash is necessary before applying the ProTectaClear. I use Dawn Dishwashing soap ? for mine and dry with a chamois before applying. Will find out what it looks like in the morning after it dries. Looked great after application.

I made a total mess with my protectaclear. Tons of bugs flew into mine. I think they are attracted to the smell. Also, thanks for the tip on denatured alcohol. I tried isopropyl alcohol and acetone which just smears everywhere. My truck is worst off then before. I don't know what to do at this point. It has streaks, rainbows, blotches, textures from the applicator, dead bugs, and missed spots. I was so disappointed with the bugs that I just quickly finished the rest of the truck poorly and as quickly as I could. I think I have the worst looking Cybertruck in California.
I think you should remove and start over with the application. Maybe get some ideas from my experience? Check out updated review.

Not gonna lie. It's work. If spending several hours prepping and polishing is not your thing this solution is not for you. However, once the prepping and polishing is completed, applying the ProTectaClear is quick and I believe my solutions will make it easier to get a smooth result.

I got a smooth and clean result after a learning curve. I also believe I've got a better and easier way to apply it smoothly. Review updated.

Could you share a picture of the painter brush that worked well once you have it?

I'm going to leave mine on until mid-June. My neighbors probably think I'm crazy for washing my truck every other day. I was testing a ton of products and then felt confident to finally do a full wash and coat. Unfortunately, I messes up on the coating and maybe the polishing too. I want to leave it on to test how easy to wash the truck with proctaclear and if it's easy to spray off dead bugs too.

A proper, high quality and "fine" bristle paint brush is the best way to apply this solution. I'm confident I will avoid any further issues applying it after I buy my brushes. It will be easier to control the amount of ProTectaClear I'm using to avoid runs and it will apply smoothly and evenly.
would you mind sharing a link to the brush you used and the technique? (Detailed description or Video if possible).

I know that is asking a lot, but I would like to try to smooth over the fully cured panels and I don’t want to do this “wrong” again.

Thanks for all of this information. I'm one of those folks who really enjoys cleaning and maintaining my vehicles, so this process is fascinating. I'm waiting on my CyberBeast but I do plan on using Protectaclear.

I'm wondering if, after proper prep, it couldn't best be applied via a sprayer? It just seems that "painting" it on, given the short working time to get a uniform coating, is problematic.

Definitely. I'm going to pick a couple up today for applying the protectaclear. A large one and a small detail one for the areas near the window rubber and plastic areas. I think I'm gonna strip mine taht I've applied and start over with the "brushes" for a smoother look. My doors look great except at the very bottom where some "rainbow" effect can be seen if you look for it. The rear side where I began at the vault looks terrible and is covered in rainbow. That is where I began applying it. The doors and front fender look perfect, so, I know I can achieve that "pro" look with patience and improving the application process.

I would not know how to answer that? I agree that a sprayer is ideal for people who know how to run one. Again, too much time on one spot can cause the same runs that the sponge creates. If you know how to properly run a gun, I would think it would be ideal if the product can be applied that way. It goes from "water" to "glue" in about 10 seconds. Ask the ProtectaClear Team?

Definitely will post some photos of the brushes after I go pick them up. I believe this going to go a long way to solving my problems applying it smoothly and uniformly.

That rainbowing indicates an area without enough product on it. Just hit that panel with a second coat to take care of it.
