I think they hold their phone that way because that's the way it came in the box.
Horizontal format doesn’t do well on platforms like instagram or TikTok, which is where my content usually gets the most engagements and views! 😅

here’s a shorter version:

Installed since Aug 2024. Pin to hole alignment is key. I locked mine in, after aligning with no issue. It looks as if when you applied max force to lock in, it caused the latch mechanism to malfunction. Even after you aligned the pins to the holes appropriately, the damage you caused is not reversible.

wow nice setup!

Ahhhhh, darn it! I might have destroyed it while trying to install it with the truckbed floor mat. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

On my first CT the holes on the truck bed were out of spec, service fixed it. Second one is perfect, maybe prior owner got it aligned.

I have 2 tesla dividers, different Gens and botg work great.

Mine can be difficult to get it latched - usually if I start to press down on the latch lever and get one end into the holes I can press down on the other end and get it to align and latch fully.

The rubber feet are a two part rubber stack for height adjustment. Take one layer off both feet when using with a bed liner mat. The latch in this video was damaged when you applied too much force. This caused one of the metal teeth to break or bend on the internal gear wheel. This cannot be fixed unless you disassemble and replace the gear wheel.

I didn’t know the height can be adjustable! Thanks for the insight on the internal gear! I watching another video that applied a lot of force to get it to latch, that’s why I put a lot of force on it too. That was a mistake! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

my truck bed certainly feels like it is bulging up, doesn’t seem right. Will certainly have to get this inspected! Thanks!

Thanks! Do you know if the Tesla version is more stable than the aftermarket versions?

Any particular 3rd party version you would recommend?
I don't think it's "more stable" as both Tesla and Aftermarket use high-strength material. The only advantage, as mentioned before, is the aftermarket one uses height adjustable "feet" which would allow you to continue using your cargo mat - picture provided below.

It still uses the exact same locking mechanism, so make sure you align the holes properly, then gently press down to lock in; don't use excessive force as it could damage the built-in locking mechanism.

Many different sites such as TesStudio use (pretty much) the same vendor. They seem to be around the $250-300 USD range. Anything cheaper, then I would either question it's authenticity or quality or build material.

Hope this helps.

Did I just get a defective one? Or is my Cybertruck defective? Or am I just an idiot that can’t install it?

I had the worse experience possible:

I am seriously considering returning it and getting the CyberGear version.
Has anyone used the CyberGear Version?
One of the problems is the divider is very reliant on the bed deck level and alignment with the divider rails.

The early solution was for Tesla to "level' the bed deck....this worked out to be them torquing the heck out of the bed deck fasteners which including the tied own loops. This was done to mine and as a result my mid deck tied down loops are completely locked into stowed position and unusable.

I do not use my divider, it flops around in my garage- as is it very oddly shaped.

I have the old version and it would only fit in certain spots until I finally used a dremel to shave the pins and make them a little thinner and it’s been working great ever since.

Take a Torx head driver and remove the feet on the bottom of the divider. I have a bed mat in mine and it didn't fit until I took the feet off and now it fits anywhere in the bed. That being said, yours is now broken from forcing and stepping on it.

in your video it looks like you have a bed matt on the floor, try removing and installing, you might have a defective divider, put in a service request, it its a tesla part, it should be warenteed
