That is my understanding. Mine is being replaced as we speak. Tesla gave me a loner MX for the day. I have to say FSD is a bit smoother, than on the CT (not too surprising ) but it has the same dry wipe behavior which was surprising. I miss the rear view and bumper cameras. But there is a lot to like. I haven't driven one in about 5 years, it is my second favorite Tesla after the CT.

What does your charging profile look like? Mostly home 40amp?
Yes, 90% home charging on a 48amp Tesla connector, 10% or so supercharging. 17k miles. I also have a powershare that I've used twice, and occasionally use the plugs in the bed for power equipment.

Im also likely experiencing pcs failure.
Vin 08xxx - 20k miles, picked up may 24

i had ‘limited power ‘ sign couple times in last 3 months when unplugging truck from mobile charger at home @ 32amps . My last post here in December was about it as well. Took truck to Service center amd supposedly they didnt find any errors in last appointments but had created fast pass appointment in case it happens again.

i saw thread here and texted SC couple days ago re possible issue in future and advisor made appointment to look into it beginning of april.

just got message in app that charging failed while it was plugged in and checked truck and showing ‘ac charging unavailable’ 🤬

Years ago there was an issue with Macbooks overheating. The issue ended up being poor training of the workers, who were applying thermal paste to CPU in globs instead of the correct paper-thin layer.

Perhaps something similar happened with the PCS? The components should be rated for X hours at Y degrees, with the full understanding that exceeding the rated temperature will reduce the lifespan. The cooling is designed with that in mind, so either the engineers did not sufficiently account for the heat, or the components have a abnormally high failure rate.

As usual, I am 100% positive that I am entirely speculating.
Me looking at evidence: At 4:58 in you see DCAC2/B printed on the PCB right in front of his thumb, and DCAC1/A above his fingers. Now look 9 minutes in is a section on the gap filler compound for thermal transfer to the cold plate. The gap filler is for chips on the bottom of the PCB. Look at the unevenness.

Now me speculating: Are the chips on the bottom side not evenly soldered to the board? They may have been hanging to the bottom side and their solder remelted as the top side chips were soldered in the reflow oven. Normally two sided boards have the bottom side placed and soldered, then they are flipped and top side is placed and soldered. Maybe this board needs to be done top side, then bottom side so gravity levels the power chips better.

PCS failures have been happening for years, long preceding the Cybertruck. There is zero evidence that Tesla is pursuing a solution. I suspect the incrementing PCS2 Rev versions simply reflect changes in supplier components, entirely unrelated to any kinds of failures.

On forums such as this there is an innate bias to over represent problems. And as consumers, we can't imagine that this kind of "expensive" repair isn't getting all kinds of attention.

Tesla knows the precise failure rate. My guess is that they have run the numbers and have calculated that it is cheaper to warranty those periodic PCS2 failures than it is to engineer a PCS2 update or replacement.

The current PCS2 failure rate is acceptable to Tesla.
Precisely, the cost for Tesla of bad PR or legal issues is LESS than the cost or replacing the problematic PCS for everyone before warranties run out.....also known as.

I bet even the revised ones fail some. Hopefully not as much as the first ones.
yea failure is expected... but $7k every 15-30k miles? That would really suck.
