When I brought other Tesla in for service, I showed the tech the error I received on my CT. He made the comment that 80% need this part that is out of stock. Wow, I wonder when all of us will be getting the service we need.

I really have learned over a decade plus to doubt the validity of any service technician from Tesla on large area quotes about things that are way above their pay grade to even know about. So I call it a b******* shot from the hip to look impressive to customer.

Makes me very reluctant to take my Cybertruck on a road trip. Heading out soon for the 5/20 Signature Edition event in Fremont and I'm taking my Model X.
Doing 10K miles starting in 5 weeks, going for 5 weeks...my PCS failed this week.

I see it as a plus. I can still charge at 24 amps, and I now have free supercharging for 90 days. That's like a grand of free supercharging for my trip.

Fingers crossed it pops in a moderate way for yours also, before your trip! Some people lose supercharging or all AC charging, hopefully that doesn't happen to you...

Oh, just saw, you're taking the X instead. I say use the truck anyway for the trip. Odds are high that you'll still be able to supercharge if it happens. And you'd get free charging within hours of it happening.

your 24 amps will stop working soon. Seems to be the consensus around here. Usually lasts a few days before going out but supercharging seems unaffected.

It's a new 2026 Model X and I want to drive it. It just got it in March. Plus it has more range and better Wh/mi than the Cyberbeast so I can get there faster: I'm going by myself this time. My Cyberbeast has lifetime free supercharging, so not worried about that. I do want to take the Beast across country, either this summer or this fall (and combine it with the X takeover in Austin, which I signed up for). I have 2 Cyberbeasts, the one I take on road trips I almost exclusively supercharge and it is a Sept 2024 build. The other doesn't have free supercharging and is a June 2024 build and almost exclusively gets charged at home, so will probably notice a fail on that one first, I'm guessing.

Is there a consensus that AC charging wears the PCS out faster? Mine is almost exclusively AC charged, but low mileage.

Congrats on your new X. I hope they offer you a Fremont factory tour.

He made the comment that 80% need this part
I think it's true that 80% of Cybertrucks have the older, vulnerable PCS module. It's not known how many of those will actually fail. Some might last forever? It's still unclear why they fail.

Has Tesla modified the PCS to make it more reliable in new trucks? For example are we on a PCS version 2 or something?
