The way I understand it, once Tesla removes the Chinese sourced material for their 4680 battery cells they can offer the $7500 federal tax credit on their $79,990 AWD model.

Maybe in 2025?

Been waiting for non-FS for a while and was banking on getting the 7500 credit to offset FSD. This is the reply from Tesla rep as of 9:30am this morning. So excited to get my truck but looks like I will be getting it without FSD now. Bummer!

Anyone have gut feelings on if this is just a few days until they get the paperwork sorted out or of this will be a while? I don't want to proceed with the financing part in the app if the tax credit will show up between now and early next week. But also don't want to delay if it will be several months until we hear anything.

So excited for my truck!!!

That's pretty optimistic.

2 million people pre-ordered the Cybertruck
It took them only eight months to get through the list last time. Every ten k lower supposedly doubles the pool, but...

If that was 2 million at $40k, that's one million at 60, 500k at 70, and 250k at 80k... and we've already burned through as you say, 50k, plus losing at least 500k (25%) due to attrition and over eagerness.

?‍♀

If you factor inflation, Foundation Series option might have actually been cheaper.
No. And I"ve done the math plenty of times for people.

Also, inflation also shrinks your debts, which means a smaller number later is always cheaper.

Exactly. That option is BS in my opinion. White material and grey material cost the same. It just personal preference. As for the tires, those wear and will have to be replaced in a year anyway.
Both of these things, one costs more than the other. The white needs titanium dioxide uv resist and stain resist treatments while the grey needs only carbon black UV resist and less stain resist coatings. The AT tire has more and more complicated rubber. The cyber wheel covers are literally bigger and having R&D problems. And they're using a more expensive alloy wheel to mount them on!

Range is nowhere close to estimate which is needed for even light towing
Range is more than they said it would be for the AWD.

What happens if you ignore the preorder right now? Will it be cancelled automatically?
Eventually, reservations will be canceled. No one knows when. Tesla will tell us.

What I learned from this thread is lots of people here don’t have cybertruck ?.
honestly to the point of “retain value” if you bought a car hoping to make money or break even it’s a bad investment. Pretty much never happens unless it’s a true classic. I’ve only made money on 2 vehicles in my life. 1 was a 57 Chevy I owned for 15 years the other is the value of my 73 Bronco now I bought 6 years ago. New cars don’t hold there value .
The FS is a true classic. If tomorrow the CT was discontinued, it would double or triple in value immediately

I'm in the process of ordering the non FS Cybertruck. This is my first Tesla. Any tips on which accessories I'll need or should be adding to my order? It's unclear to me if any charger at all is included or if we need to actually be ordering the universal 240 volt wall charger.

Tips?
You'll need a mobile connector or wall connector if you do not already have one (not included with Tesla vehicles). I've been using the mobile connector with a 14-50 outlet since May without issue.

I just received my invitation, but I am going to wait until next year to see if anything good comes up regarding the batteries and tax credit. Dealers are starting to offer discounts and incentives for their overpriced trucks. Hopefully the prices will fall to more affordable levels for the masses next year.

I was surprised to get the Non FS email today. I'm way down the reservation list (RN1129XXXXX), reserved on 11/23/2019 (evening). My Garage is just getting Framed over the next 2 weeks. Emotions are tougher than I expected.

I too would like to get the tax credit. But the lack of official comment from Tesla is not a promising sign. My suspicion is that the Cathodes make it not eligible. and if they will change that in 2025, they know that then many would wait. And they really want to hit that 515k Q4 number of vehicles. So, be vague enough that not only will more order now, but that we'll order with upgrades too.

Who’s the lucky schmuck who get the last foundation series off the line? $20k up charge to get their truck one day before the dude that paid $80k
Clearly you are late to the thread lol…. It’s not a 20k up charge and the numbers have already been ran

If you really want the truck. Buy the truck. No matter the cost. We ain’t promised tomorrow much less…months/years from now
Agree. At $79k, (keep to gray, core wheels, no FSD), it’s a steal for what you get. You can wait on the potential tax credit but it’s possible those days will be over along with the election. Government subsidy on EVs are a hot topic.

Right. It’s still a $5k get it early fee. Just because some people got non-FS invites doesn’t mean anyone can buy one. It’s going to take some time for them to tap out demand and work through the list.

I expect many many gray / core / no FSD trucks on the road in the coming year

It is most likely it’s based on your location.

I received my Cybertruck invite today at 2:18pm

It is most likely it’s based on your location. I reserved 11am on day 2, no invite sent.
I think it's some sinister plot to mess with my mind! Somehow they knew my Garage wasn't ready. Now they've got me thinking about running power cords from my Household dryer plug, and parking it in the unfinished garage... Oh the misery!!!

Well, I've made it 3 hours now without caving....

Wow literally picking up my truck this week. I went with tactical grey so loosing even more on that. Damn going to have to think about this.
IMG_7241.jpeg
Tactical grey is much better looking. Once I saw both, it was an easy choice. Grey should be the upcharge, white the default.
