Because you don't have jack if the truck isn't home and plugged in! Truck has less LRA for AC units. Can't load shift if truck isn't home.
I have a generator so I do have jack. That is why I didn't think they would give me the option of power sharing. I have a non-Tesla solar array and inverter, and a non-Tesla generator and transfer switch, and everyone says that Tesla doesn't play nicely with non-Tesla setups. I accepted the virtual walkthrough and was very careful to show them all these other things and they still gave me a quote. In fact, the Gateway 3V is intended for backup only. It is still true that I cannot load shift without batteries but my [current] goal is to have power when the grid goes out. I always had that with my generator but it is loud and can only be run for a certain number of days as it is air-cooled. With the Cybertruck power sharing I have backup for my backup.

Which is how I run my house. I have specific circuits backed up by generator, UPS, and battery. The generator can recharge the battery and either my EV or run the heat. That means I really only have to run the generator once a day for about two hours or so to keep things running.

It's a budget solution, which obviously won't attract everyone here, but keeping the network on and the fridge chilly is all I really need if I'm not here; and if I am, well, then the truck could seriously augment that.

I like that setup, but after $112K plus the $4,500 for the power sharing setup I am stretched beyond thin. Battery later, maybe.

Well, the truck would set in for a battery in that setup with power share. My battery cost ~$2k, it would cost a fair chunk to put the proper sized inverter for my Zero to feed back to a load ^-^

They said a year. I screenshot that shit because I knew I couldn’t install PowerShare.

I also have a screenshot where it’s not entirely clear at all, but it’s no wall connector if you don’t get power share. In fact, it implies that you do indeed get both regardless of powershare

I’m a little confused. My beast came with a wall connector. It was in the under bed storage.
I’m waiting to be contacted by the power share people.

That is not a wall connector. That is the mobile connector. The universal wall connector will be installed when you get the power share. It is a different unit that interfaces with the gateway.

Just had mine done this week. I was told by the installer I’m the third one in Florida, and 12th in the country (not sure if that’s true)

I thought they were trying to slide it in me when I got the 4600 install quote. It seems no matter where you live, if you don’t already have a powerwall setup, that’s the rate. It’s insane, I could have an entire new panel with new breakers installed for less than that. I plan to negotiate a lower price with the installer.
I’m definitely having it installed in this first wave before any buildings codes change that could potentially prevent a future install.

Took delivery on our 2-motor truck 05/22/24. Spoke with Powershare installer this morning. He says "we charge $2500 for the install of your new gateway and HWPC." He walked me through the purchase of the hardware in the Tesla shop using my voucher. Installation is 06/27/24.

We have 2 Powerwalls + 10.4 kW Tesla solar + a non-Tesla EVSE.

Then I believe there is a software update that initializes Powershare...in July? Can't wait!

Cybertruck can provide 48 amps and about 11kw of continuous power during an outage which is about 10 hours with full battery. Realistically will pull half that or less during the day and much less at night which pushes it to 1 full day. ....
Am I reading that right? I have read previously that the CyberTruck battery at full charge should be able to provide at least 2 whole days is backup at 11kw of continuous power during an outage. Is this not the case form your experience?

Still on the fence. Would like to know if the battery of the truck can sustain/backup my HVAC (Lennox 240VAC, 60Hz 16.0A Max) during summer and Steam heat with the fridge and a handful of lights throughout the house for atleast a couple of days at a minimum.

Got my PowerShare gateway and universal power wall installed today.

Cpl questions:
1. I was able to connect to Wall Connector via wifi but I’m getting an error when connecting to Gateway V3. It throws an unable to connect to gateway wifi error. I can see Wall Connector in Tesla app. *Edit*after working with installer and tesla we found a loose connector within gateway that needed to be tighten down

2. What does it take to do a full panel backup? Right now it’s only partial backup of our 200 amp panel. Do I have to purchase a sub panel to fully backup panel? Currently only 6 breakers backed up.

Sorry for the basic questions but new at all this.

Hey peeps,

I got my Powershare Home Backup Equipment email.

I will be installing it as soon as I get some time to find and schedule a Tesla certified installer.

I do have one doubt that maybe y'all can help with.

If I want to install the universal wall connector first and the powershare gateway in a few months, how the heck do I get my hands on that universal wall connector without paying for it or using my tesla shop code which would null my future powershare gateway purchase?
