Looking at the red circle areas in the photo below, I see the very front-most portion of the rear casting. I assume the vertical holes there are for bolting the casting to the battery pack instead of the midgate wall.

Possibly. If it's like the Model Y, the pack comes in with most of the interior and snaps in from below. I wonder when the tonneau is slotted in. Probably later, since you'd want it more easily replaceable.

Hm.... I thought firewalls were supposed to keep fire from traversing to the other side of the wall... How does that work if there are so many large holes in the "firewall"?

Also... with that many holes, anyone want to start an argument for a passthrough from the cabin to the frunk?
Trolls be trolls sometimes.
With an ICE, there was a real need for a "Firewall" With a BEV, Not so much....

an obvious reinforced spot to press your foot against while pulling the handle when it gets stuck;

Pay no attention to these Mid-gate deniers who are always too preoccupied with facts, reality and truth. All the outdated concepts that keep you from enjoying the anticipation of return of mid-gate on the promised day. People need to just let go of what they think they know and simply believe.
Exactly! You can also see the hinges on the mid-gate, which means it is not a hollow box but it opens up, it's actually a transformer, powered pneumatically from the built-in compressor, obviously. Analyzing the hinge and tab locations, it's readily apparent this particular unit is configured to turn into a large canopy, covering the bed at stand-up height.

An earlier unit was different, forsenic examination of the hinge locations revealed it was configured to fold forward, into the cabin, converting the cabin into a conference room, complete with table, chairs and large screen display monitor.

Rumour has it the high-spec option will be a metal shop option, with lathe, CNC milling machine and water-jet machine. The mid-range models will convert to a mobile gym, with stationary bicycle, leg and bench presses and a treadmill. The entry-level model with the pole dancing stage was axed when focus groups indicated there could be some media backlash.

None of this is in question, once you decode the stamping details using precision analysis.

The lack of midgate is why this defective frame was scrapped.

Midgate faith lives on
Wouldn't it be funny, if the truck did actually come out with this "midgate".
maybe Tesla did intentionally leak these photos :sneaky:

Yes, that would be hillarious. Especially considering that Tesla never, ever even hinted it might have a mid-gate (along with all the other wonderful things they HAVE said it might have).

Just like I'm convinced it will have a fully equipped metal shop!

BEV you need a firefloor instead. Depending on cell chemistry.

Lol. Your posts are all exactly the same.
Thats why I laugh just as much about all of them. Even the ones we all think are actually serious. ;) :ROFLMAO:

But seriously, I think you've missed your calling, and should do more of these instead. Much more entertaining. (y)(y)

So far has Tesla the company ever mentioned words "rear steering" or was rear steering only known from Elon's posts and videos of rear steering in action?

Elon is the CEO of the company. That means "Chief Executive Officer".

When the CEO tells you one of their products will have rear wheel steering, it IS the company telling you that.

Especially if like EM he's a fundamental part of the engineering and design team, unlike many other CEOs.
