either way one interprets this is encouraging:

"Lightning is expensive [period]" - suggests a lower MSRP for CT

or

"Lightning is expensive for what you get " - suggests MSRPs for CT could be equal or higher, but the value proposition will be significant.

either way, love the vibes all-around (including the developing vibes between Musk and Farley)
I'm inclined (and want) to believe the former. If it was 'for what you get' then CT prices are revealed higher, folks would call him all kinds of names, not that they don't already.

yeah I'm with you

though that does just move the question to "at which trim level is he referring"

because what Musk says doesn't entail necessarily that he's referring to the Pro's pricing

FORD: Forked Over by Ridiculous Dealerships

Even if the price to range and features ratio was exactly the same for the CT as the Lightning (doubt it will be), I still wouldn't want to set foot in a dealership. Caught too many of them in obvious lies in the last year and change of vehicle shopping. The Tesla buying process isn't perfect, but it is relatively transparent, straightforward, low pressure, etc. So the Lightning would have to be _significantly_ cheaper than CT before it would go back on my list.

I doubt I'm the only customer left with these sentiments by dealer antics the last ~18 months. The dealership laws creating an enforced monopoly need to be changed, yesterday.

True. My rectally-derived belief is that each of the three announced trim levels will be 5-10k higher. I know the single motor is supposedly off the table, but pricing at 49, 59, and 79 for trim levels doesn't seem unreasonable to me. Again, I have nothing the base these on I'm just trying to help @Gurule92 black out his second Pricing Thread bingo sheet.

Very reasonable guess, I would say.

My Bold prediction;

Dual Motor $39,900
Tri-Motor $49,900

Even the most die hard Tesla haters will not be able to refuse the offer.
All of the lost truck sales for Ford and GM will be catastrophic for them...Game over.
...and Tri-Motor at $79,990 to STILL get the tax (or point-of-sale) credit.

I wouldn't read much into it. I get the impression all he was trying to say is that the Lightning is not a bad product, just was a bit too expensive prior to the price cuts.

Ford just cut the F-150 Lightning's price today to starting at below $50K today. Here is Musk's comment on that --

"The Ford Lightning is a good vehicle, just somewhat expensive, especially given the high interest rates these days for any kind of loan"

I wonder if this gives us any hints into intended Cybertruck pricing.... ?
You can read this two ways:

1) Cybertruck will be cheaper than the new Lightning pricing, when comparing apples to apples.
2) Cybertruck will be a great vehicle, vs. a "good" vehicle.

Given that the Cybertruck has so many desirable features that are not included on the Lightning, it cannot be compared apples to apples. That's because you get more with the Cybertruck, even when ranges are comparable: extreme dent resistance, four-wheel steering for superior maneuvering at low speeds and superior control at high speeds, best in the industry rust resistance, fully adjustable ride height for different scenarios including loading/unloading and efficiency/range vs. ground clearance, armor glass, superior tow and haul ratings, included Tesla Autopilot (BlueCruise is not comparable and costs extra), motorized tonneau cover, superior software, etc. etc. etc, then you have trouble comparing apples to apples.

I suspect the Cybertruck will be priced roughly in the same ballpark as the archaic F-150 Lightning in terms of range, and all the benefits of the Tesla will make it such a no-brainer that Ford will have to slash prices again if they want to keep selling significant volume.

If a McDonald's employee was wrong about orders at the same rate that Jim Cramer is wrong about markets, they would have been fired years ago.

Wow, I looked at my Crystal Ball this morning and I got the SAME predicted prices! I wonder why the universe keeps floating these numbers around...

I'm with you. I am definitely not a Jim Cramer fan/supporter.
