When I picked mine up it had lots of water stains in the back and it leaks so bad around all 3 walls. Its like a waterfall on the back window part. Do you think this is abnormal and I need to turn it in?

Mine doesn't leak and it's been non-stop raining for days here... I park outside.

I don't expect it to be leak proof but I think this is my problem I hope they fix Friday.

Brought mine in to service center and they need to order a seal so just got truck back with a new install date.

FYI, they gave me an X as a loaner, hated it in comparison, the yoke steering wheel is HORRIBLE, worst ever. Cybertrucks squircle is best steering wheel ever. I see why the default wheel now on X and S isn’t the yoke. It was particularly concerning when running FSD, because if you did have to grab the wheel it’s very hard with the stupid yoke being that it’s position changes so much depending on which way the wheels are pointing. Did I say it was HORRIBLE yet?

My tonneau didn't leak at all for months, but now it does because the cover somehow became misaligned leaving a gap at the top on the driver's side for water to get in. Calibrating the tonneau cover (Service menu) doesn't correct the misalignment. I'll have to take it into my SC one of these days.

There's a thread on this, but that's the design of the tonneau now. Almost all newly produced CTs are reporting being delivered with those holes exposed. 1 person had a SC say they would replace it, but most SCs are saying every single new CT is shipped like that and it's the new design.

The holes everyone is showing is not the cause of the leaks (at least in my experience). The URL reference posted above by docowen is a good source for where the leaks occur, and in that video you will see a very poor seal being replaced by rubber. My truck is a later version, with a rubber seal already upgraded as OEM from Tesla. However, my rubber seal also leaked, and when I removed the cover (and two bolts to do so), the rubber gasket was compromised by an irregular pattern in the metal border (see pic below) and that was my cause of leak on both ends of the metal piece I removed.

I put everything back together and used a silicone Permatex sealant to run a "caulk" bead down the gulley and that fixed my leaking Tonneau.

BTW, my Tonneau cover has exactly the same border holes as shown in other thread responses. On appearance it looks like that might be the culpret but it my case it was not.

I would post a picture of my solution, but Helene dropped a tree from our front yard onto my 1-month old truck, shattered the windsheild and now I am without my beloved beast waiting on parts and fix, driving instead a camry rental. I did authorize my Hermes PsychoPomp (my truck name) to download and install the FSD upgrade, from 40 miles away while it sits in service parking lot, but am unable to use it:(. Anticipatory joy awaits, probably will be 4 weeks before I'm back in drivers seat.

I park outside too, 24/7. Mine leaked when I got it. I took off the cross trim, saw two gaps in the foam strip, plucked some extra foam from the two ends, stuck it in the two gaps with the sticky glue already on the foam, re-installed the aluminum cross trim (it clamps the foam strip down so adhesive is not really necessary) and now it's dry as a bone.

Took all of 20 minutes.

When I picked up my beast (vin 20xxx, July), the tonneau leaked horrendously at the top. I made a service appt and, though they said leakage was normal, they replaced the tonneau. After replacement, I could see the metal strip at the top (see attached pic), and it leaked less, but still more than it seemed it should. Plus, the tonneau is a bit canted to one side when it closes - which you can see in the pic of the metal strip at the top.

I took it in again today, and mentioned the updated rubber seal I'd heard about on this board. The service tech said this was the first new seal update he had done (Fife, WA), and he was happy to learn about it. I asked about the uneven closing and he said he tried to calibrate it but it didn't fix it and engineering says it's within spec and not unexpected. Seems weird, but *shrug*.

So, I learned:
- The updated rubber seal is real, and relatively new.
- Tesla is ok with the slightly crooked tonneau.
- It's normal for the the metal strip with the holes to be visible.

Time, and rain, will tell....

I have had this reviewed twice during recent service appointments and they just keep telling me it's within specs (the truck was in for other issues). Is there a service bulletin or something I can reference for the weather stripping?
