I received the “invite” to order a Foundation Series two weeks ago and ordered the AWD Foundation Series without realizing that it does NOT include the $4k installation allowance for Home PowerShare hardware that is included with the Beast because the difference is not highlighted in the ordering process.

Between that install allowance and the lightbar, the effective price difference between the AWD and Beast is potentially closer to $15k rather than $20k. That said, the cost of installing the Home PowerShare hardware (which is included in both the AWD and Beast) is unknown at this point and heavily dependent on each owner’s home existing home electrical setup etc. Interestingly enough, the $4k allowance is not mentioned on the Beast order agreement that my friend received - however, he did receive a survey email regarding PowerShare Install last week that specifically called out the allowance while my AWD order specifically calls out my out of pocket install cost.

Whenever I take delivery of my CT, I’ll try to escalate since it’s pretty lame that Foundation AWD owners aren’t receiving this allowance.

Between that install allowance and the lightbar, the effective price difference between the AWD and Beast is potentially closer to $5k rather than $20k. Im sure like myself there's a lot of purchasers of the CT have solar, gateway, wall or all that wouldn't need any equipment or installation as stated on specs site. So now I wonder if they will just hand over the paid for equipment in purchase of my AWD FS or give me a credit? either way Its a winner for me

Good question. I had Tesla solar installed 4 yrs ago w/o a PowerWall (bc power walls were expensive AF + Tesla install cost was/is even more absurd). Curious what additional hardware is needed for PowerShare to work assuming you already have various components installed (including the bi-directional universal wall charger)…

I have a wall and 12 panels. Total coat 4 years ago was 20k. I'm getting a second wall for 6k with tax credit. It comes with a second gateway where I'm not sure if needed and will I get credit or just leave equipment with me? Will see. As for the truck equipment for power share shows V3 Gateway, wall connector we will get with option. Hope that helps

Nice - assume you will get the spare equipment left with you, but who knows. Depending on how the Home PowerShare install shakes out, I may finally pull the trigger on a PowerWall too. Cost of 1 PW including install and subtracting fed tax credit is $10.5K for me. If Tesla can bundle/simultaneously install that with the necessary PowerShare hardware (universal wall connector only?) maybe I can save on the $900-1100 Gateway + “Accessories” on the PW quote…

Yes if you have the wall then youll probably get the extra gateway left with you. I have a wall and gateway already and now with a second wall coming and a cybertruck power share that means ill have 3 gateways. Gonna be fun dealing with it all.My actual price sheet doen't reflect the fed tax credit but I'll get that too. Wonder why the price difference?

Interesting - I’m guessing your install cost ($2300) is lower than mine ($5700) because it’s less work/time intensive adding a second PW than getting your first one. Nice to see Tesla providing a $1300 “expansion” discount to you - which is slightly better price than the “bundled” price you bought 2 x PWs together right now ($15,700 for two bundled vs $8,400 for one).

I’m still salty about not getting a $4k Home PowerShare “install allowance” w/ the AWD Foundation Series, but I’m optimistic that there might be a creative way to bundle the install of my first PW with the Home PowerShare.

I'm going to talk it over with my tesla contact when the permit is done and they call to set up next appointments about all this and hope you and I both can get some money back as both prices for wall and CT include equipment costs where only 1 gateway is needed for our set ups. Possible labor costs down too but we really need that CT FS to come before installation of wall.
