Some would say (not me) that the Foundation Series is for YouTubers and Business Owners purchasing what will soon be a rapidly depreciating asset or wealthy spendthrifts who just want the attention getting factor of the Foundation Series Cybertruck. They (not me) also say that many will unload these Foundation Series Cybertruck's once the resale value drops like a rock and no one pays any attention to their new toy.

They also say check out the used purchase prices of the Model X (and S) which sold for well over $100K as the proof. What do they think we are, idiots?

was wondering if any FS owners kinda wished they'd waited, can't believe all are happy with knowing i've got my order email all ready to go after the announcement for 20 less. not too exclusive of a club, imo.
If they build 30,000 FSD out of 3,000,000 trucks, that .makes the FS a very exclusive 1% of all Cybertrucks built. Pretty exclusive indeed. If 10% of FS are Cyberbeast, man, THAT's exclusive!

Maybe Tesla doesn't cap FS production at a set number. Rather, Tesla offers a FS to every person who put in an order before April 20th 2020. Then, once the last person who placed an order on or before April 20th has been offered a chance to configure an FS, they switch to Non Founders series.

What do you think?

To me, it’s only really exclusive if the FS and NFS have differences in build let’s say like the seats or the white/grey finish or the alcantara are only in FS. But if the only difference is one has the FS badge and the others don’t, there’s really nothing exclusive about that…

Exactly! With the AWD I bet all the FS options will be extra. White interior, bigger wheels and tires. Styling and seats maybe an upgrade too. Bring you right back to the 100k price. Anyone wanting a under $80k going to be very basic if possible.
Tesla will take a page from Porsche and make everything an option. The only thing that will be standard will be the body and motors. ”Do you want a steering wheel? You have to pay for that.” Ha Ha

Why April 20, 2020?

Because it becomes a very scumbag move at some point. How many years can you produce an "exclusive" vehicle before it's no longer exclusive?

The entire program was created to buffer the slow ramp up in the first place. And think it's evident by now that the ramp is going much slower than they anticipated.
Slow ramp, you say?

Cybertruck is already at a production rate of over 1K per week. This is after only a few months of ramping.

Suffice it to say, if you were to place a reservation today, you are unlikely to get one until 2027 at the earliest. The backlog is huge and so many 3/Y owners are willing to do a "stretch" to get their hands on the Cybertruck.

The best part about the Cybertruck is that it doesn't drive like a truck. This is a huge deal for so many buyers who want a larger vehicle but still want it to drive like how Teslas do: fun and easy to drive.

I honestly hope that twitter FUD was actually true, but it’s not. CT demand is strong. There are 3 million reservations. Even if the conversion rate is only 20% and ramp up increases significantly, it’ll take several years for Tesla to fulfill the orders. I don’t know what these random social media authors are thinking when they post these articles. They are just showing the world how dumb they are. Anybody who thinks 80% of CT reservation holders will cancel their reservation is not thinking straight. Given the positive reviews on how good the vehicle drives, I seriously worry about when prices will normalize for CT, and when this Foundation Series gimmicks ends.
100% this.

Let's say just 2M reservations. I think the conversion rate is more like 25%, which means 500K Cybertrucks.

A couple of scenarios:
1) If production is capped at 125K per year, that means a 4-year wait.
2) If production is increased to 250K per year, that is a 2-year wait.

I think if you were to place a reservation today, you would be waiting until 2027 at the earliest. HaulingAss, any comments?

Me too. I just want this stupid FS saga to end, but know that what we want doesn’t make that twitter post valid. The twitter post is about FS ending soon because of lack of demand. That’s utterly nonsense. If FS invites go to all 3 million reservation holders, and if Tesla doesn’t put a limit on number of FS units, we are in a long long wait my friend. Hope that doesn’t happen, but who knows! ?‍♂
Used Tesla Cybertrucks are still selling for more than Foundation Series (FS). So why would Tesla discontinue FS if the demand is still there?

I think Tesla will continue to sell FS for another year. For an extra $20K, you do get quite a bit of features as well.

I got a vin for my awd cyber truck FE. I am pretty disappointed that the price cut of FSD (8k) is not deducted from the purchase price. I am not to keen on FE.

I did buy a 2020 model Y when it came out with FSD. They still have not delivered on that promise. Really unhappy to again buy something which does not not work right now.

i would accept a tesla shop voucher for 8k.

I am a tesla fan boy and stock holder ;)
