yeah, quite a few of us went with something similar after getting ridiculous Qmerit quotes.

I've got a manual interlock on my panel and 50amp generator inlet. Works fine to power my house as long as I don't try to run two AC units at once.

Nice! My PowerShare Install came out to $0 out of pocket but if it would have been more than $1k I would have gone this route! Great alternative!

Tesla installer quoted $4,600 for my Powershare. And after a delay of 3 months wanted to increase price by $300.

I said no way but Tesla don't want me to get the unit and parts so my son, who used to work for Tesla can install it himself.

I will have this kind of set up. No hurry because we don't ever have a black out. We must be in the same grid as the powerplant 10 miles away.

How dud you get install for zero?
Apparently by not valuing their own labor ^-^

I didn't price my labor in my $200 charger 100' from my house. But they did get an awful good price on those materials.

That's the same thing I've got at the moment (used to have a 30A transfer switch) - about $50 worth of parts, plus significantly less wiring (and less mess in the panel) than a giant transfer switch. Interlock is a must, way too often I see people back-feeding during an outage...

Very good, thanks for sharing. I hope to do something similar one of these days.

Please, please make absolutely sure you put a lock on the throw switch. People die every year from not taking lockout-tagout seriously enough.

Also, I don't trust unknown brands with 12+ kW of power. Caveat emptor.
