Apparently the chip shortage is alive and well.

Sienna production is halted due to chip shortage til January. Dealer not taking deposits til December and deliveries of april for those who get in line in December. My used '22 Sienna is retailing ~15k above msrp. Dealer offered me the out-the-door price i paid +$7300.

Id do it but 8 months is too long of a wait for a new van. Hope tesla has ducks in order on the chip front
I believe it, but don't believe it. Families are usually on a budget and given a choice between waiting 6-8 months or $15k they would wait. .......Unless their previous vehicle died in which case they think they have to buy something now. My 07' Sienna is my bridge vehicle to the CT. Running strong with 275k. Crossing my fingers. 2.5 more years?????

What would be really great is if they make the dual motor $79k so it qualifies for the incentive. And that's how they sell all of the vehicles. However, they offer a software upgrade to increase range and power which makes them the tri and quad motor versions. Add to that FSD being activated after sale for the same reason and you got yourself a winner!

If prices on CT go up 20% or more over original price, I'm out and will just keep my new Silverado Trail Boss I just bought. I got it as a fill in till CT rolls out, but not paying over $58k for a dual motor. My buddy has a Model Y and I dive it and ride in it all the time. The shit that you have to put up with in the Tesla almost makes it not worth it to begin with but if they go Jack in the price up that much I'm definitely backing out of it.
What shit do you have to go through in a Tesla? I have a Y with a hard liner in the trunk. I don't think I've had to put up with anything extreme if at all.

Man, it must be Canadians bash on US citizens week or something. Damn, missed that on our calendar
I mean wow. Peace and love huh?
🤣🤣.
So I decided to look it up.

Why Canada is known for peace?

Canada's lead role as a peaceful nation is due to the consistent devaluation of internal conflict and violence, resulting in the promotion of unity, interpersonal harmony amongst its citizens, and sustainable development. This attitude is what made it the ideal destination for people worldwide.

Really? Hmmm. That’s not the energy I’m getting. 😉

Looks like Elon saved you $15.

You're welcome
I was simply implying that the potential compounded interest on $100 over 4 years is not much. So for <$50 people think they have locked in pricing and hedged inflation. Even some of the most intelligent CTOC members are really doing some serious mental gymnastics to justify holding prices.

I get it. Grasping on to a price which was just with in your reach only to have it move out of your reach has got to be frustrating. It does not change the fact that inflation is real and more than could have possibly been expected and battery supplies are limited. The 2019 pricing already considered all the manufacturing improvements Tesla is going to do. There is no room to absorb. this inflation and possible improved specifications.

Tesla will thread the nettle and most of us will understand the situation.

Canada can be peaceful because they have a strong democratic neighbor. They also have a crap load of valuable natural resources with low population density to pump up their way of life.

Canadians are great and they have a pretty sweet gig.

Elon didn't indicate a substantial increase. To me, 20-30% is substantial. 10-15% seems more palatable.

7 to 10 grand more for the Tri. sounds reasonable.
10 to 20 grand more for the Tri. seems substantial.

I wonder why would Tesla build Austin in the shape of the CT.
The windows taper like the CT lights.
They have CT planter boxes.
They have the Cyber wall
They have Cyber Rodeo
They have Cyber Roundup

Why should Elon give his competitors a heads-up ?

Let competition bed in their specs and price points, and then blow them out of the water. That sounds like EM. They can have the first year, we can have the next 50.

Soooo much CYBER Branding, the CT is built in what he says is our biggest advantage, 'manufacturing'.

Ohh and BTW, we have a 50% better and cheaper battery. Ohhh and I forgot,,, we are vertically integrated.

Here we are thinking, he will turn around with tail between his legs, and benchmark his increases in line with Ford and Rivian.

I know all about that. My step mom is Canadian and lives here in the US. Canada is beautiful and I’m just having a little bit of fun due to some comments😄 🤪

If price is too high for a 500 mile range CT, I'll probably just buy the Model Y with a tow package
Yep, on the fence. Have Model Y on order with tow a little before the last two price increases. But going back and forth if I want to take delivery in Dec 22-Jan 23. If I was to pay that much I might as well wait another year or two for the CT and save some more for down payment.

you had a year to reserve one before they closed reservations recently.
You had to reserve one in the first four months, and then your expected wait-time was from one to three years, and by 'recently' you mean 'last year' and by 'reserve' you mean 'nearly no one qualifies for a pro when their number comes up' so the configurator says you have to pay twice as much.

Being as I have a Cybertruck reservation, that's a bad deal.

We're doing basic math.
  1. Their launch prices were a range just below the Y.
  2. The prices would have included four years of 2% inflation at minimum.
  3. Their prices target a 30% margin above that.
  4. Hence, prices shouldn't change by much.

The demand and specs will be different m so the prices will be different, sure. We knew that from day two when he said the tri-motor would come first because demand, then last year said that'll be a quad-motor.

That's a different truck. But it's not the Model S.

I had a dream last night:

There's only going to be a quad motor version 4WD with two different battery sizes, and a performance model.

All will come with 4WS, FSD and all the fruit, and prices will start from $65k for the 300mile pack.

FSD will be used as Band-Aid to keep prices down, and customers on the order hook, seeing they can distribute that software for free on all CT models and charge for version upgrades later.

With credits that's $57k, which still covers inflation on a dual motor price, and Tesla pockets the rest for 4WS and the two extra motors. The performance will just be a software upgrade.

You can thank me with TSLA share. :ROFLMAO:
Essentially what I suggested! Only I included the option to software limit 4motor to 2 motors!

I really do think they will be doing away with multiple versions in favor of 1 with paid software upgrades.

Plaid Cybertruck: $79,999
Software Activation of wiper: $100,000
Remember all those people who swore the CT would never have side view mirrors and the regulations would be changed in a matter of months to allow Tesla to deliver without mirrors? Yeah that was funny! 😂

So, Elon said that the original price targets set in 2019 are incorrect for the final build. The Giga Press casting will allow for the first real CyberTruck to be built. The Prototypes only resemble what the final product will look like, not how they are actually made.

All the consternation over final pricing is a colossal waste of time (as is my writing this ;-)). Tesla does not know what they don't know with the Exoskeleton and giga casting till they make them and even if they get most everything right, mid next year is an extremely aggressive time line for any company other than Tesla. Tesla has no good reason to further estimate the final sales price of the first CyberTruck models. As was mentioned, that only gives their competitors a heads up.

WIth their production efficiency, they could probably sell the CT's for the original price targets and make money but from a share holder perspective, a higher price based upon market conditions, demand and product ramp up time would be the preferred basis for a final pricing decision.

Elon essentially joked about the $99 refundable reservation fee, and that speaks to the level of import that fee has on the final to market price decision. I'm sorry if some of you feel betrayed or deceived but really there is no sound reason for those feelings, it's all emotional. So i say, collect your reservation refund and move on rather than upset yourself with things that are well beyond your ability to control.
