Powershare Install Completed

The Cybertruck only has a single 48A charger onboard so a 60A circuit is all I needed for the UWC. The mobile charger maxes out at 32A.

My old Model S had two 40A chargers and could use a 100A circuit. Its mobile charger could do 40A.

sorry, my mistake. I was asking about the capacity to charge the truck not powershare. Wrong thread I guess. Well since Im here, what is the max output a wall charger can give the truck?

DC charging would indeed solve the issue, but even if you CAN find a place to buy a supercharger, you need a lot more than 200 amps. And it's probably gonna run you 50-100k.

Having said that, there IS a place that makes a DC charger that has its own battery pack, so you can trickle charge the battery on it, and then fast charge your car from that battery. But, it's going to be expensive like I mentioned above.

I build gas stations and the fuel equipment suppliers have started selling EV charging stations and being a licensed contractor I can get the equipment at 30% off. That being said, a 200amp subpanel off the main is easily done. 150+amps is way better than 48. I'll post when done.

Well, so disappointed as today I received an email that i won't be getting my Power Share Equipment installed and only a $700 credit.........I thought we paid more than that and all this after I did receive in January an approval for Power Share. Disappointed.

I’m not please with that either. The value of the credit should be for Universal Wall Charger + Gateway 3V. That’s much more than $700. Likely $2000 or more.

Tesla pulled a bait and switch whether they realized it or not.

RJ Electric notified me about scheduling a site evaluation to install the Tesla Powershare system.

In my case, I already have non-Tesla solar and battery backup. I have a Sunny Boy solar inverter, a Sunny Island inverter/charger, and a 9.6 kWh battery. If I cut back on loads, a fully charged battery will see me through the night until solar production resumes the next morning to recharge the battery. The Sunny Island detects loss of utility power and disconnects the main panel from the grid. When grid power returns it reconnects after a time delay.

I want to install the Tesla gateway between the utility meter and my main breaker panel.

Typically, my CT will not be connected to the UWC, so my existing backup system will respond to a blackout instantly. If I'm home (spend winters in Arizona), and it looks like the power outage will be prolonged, I can plug the UWC into the CT and supply up to 11.5 kW to the house. The Sunny Island will detect 240VAC power from the gateway and switch modes to recharge the house battery from the CT battery plus the solar panels.

This should be a simple installation since everything is done on the exterior of the house, including the mounting of the UWC.

Here is a simple block diagram of my existing solar system with battery backup:

Hi OP, what is the panel size you have? I have 110A panel size and approved in survey. But my installer said they cannot do powershare on 110A panel and need at least 200A. They hold the project for now waiting for Tesla to provide a solution called load shifter so they can install poweshare on 100A panel. I have no idea if thie is true or not. And who know when Tesla can provide the solution.

I have a 150A panel. The Tesla Gateway is connected to the panel with a 125A breaker. The gateway has three backup circuits inside:

60A - Subpanel
30A - Downstairs AC
25A - Upstairs AC

For those of you who have installed power share or received a rejection email when did this occur in the CT timeline. In other words did you get notification or installation before your CT was delivered? If yes how much advance notice were your given?

Survey came on 3/20/84.
Contacted by EV Pro 3/29/24.
Appointment with EV Pro set for 4/16/24.
Received eligibility email from Tesla on 4/5/24. (Note EV Pro reached out before I received the eligibility email but before the site visit/estimate.
