It is automatic in that the MC sets the maximum charge current based on the connected adapter. In this case it had a 14-50 which can handle 50A*80%=40A, but the MC itself is limited to 32A max.
The 14-30 adapter sets the unit to 30A*80%=24A.

The vehicle will reduce charge current if it detects abnormal voltage drop and the MC monitors temperature, but they can't reliably detect items in the power path that are underrated.
Ok, cool. thank you for explaining that. I will make sure to keep an eye on that.

Alright now I feel like a dumbass….too much going on at one time to remember what was going on I guess, or had a plan then changed along the way…who knows.

That unused dryer circuit I stole from was a no-neutral 2-wire cable. Only cable I had on hand that was big enough was 3-wire cable. So I capped the red in the splice box, twisted everything else together and left an 18” chunk sticking out of the wall for future UWC hookup. This was around the time my Order Email came through, and after 4+ years we all know how nothing else mattered after that.

That said, I grabbed and installed a new 3-wire receptacle (14-30) instead of a 2-wire (10-30) when I learned of the home charging equipment delays surrounding declining PowerShare Home Backup. Probably because I saw I left myself a 3-wire cable sticking out of the wall, instead of being smart and looking at the old dryer plug.

So here I am yesterday, anxiously awaiting the Tesla 10-30 Gen2 adapter for the PSMC I ordered ahead of checking the circuit...swapped the receptacle tested everything a-ok using the old dryer to confirm it worked…and the god damn PowerShare voucher email comes through. Plenty fine to use for now, though, since we were gifted this one-time lump some voucher…I need the spare tire back in stock before order my wall charger since everything else I want is already in the truck, or absurdly overpriced??

Ok, now with all you guys having Gen 1 Gen 2 Gen 3 wall chargers...I used my voucher to get the universal wall charger where I learned it only allows max 48 amp charging...my Gen 1 I purchased in 2019 in anticipation of receiving truck in a year (was way off?)...well it has an adjuster dial I ca set it at 100amps charging. Does the new Gen 3 (non universal) charger have an adjuster? Thanks all!!

looks like it does!

That being said, why isn't it on the US site? That link is for the Australian website. So that's AU dollars meaning its much cheaper than $800. I was able to add it to cart and sign in but that's as far as I have gone so far.

I could be WAY off on all this lol. They could have different names in different countries? I honestly have no idea lol.

There are definitely two different types of Gen 3 chargers:

Right. At 46 miles an hour that's same amp rate as my 48amp universal so it looks like Tesla capped the Home chargers amp at 48.

yeah and different countries will have different electrical codes so they will vary from place to place.

The Cybertruck's rectifier is limited to 48A. A higher-capacity WC will not produce faster charging.

For issues specifically with the NEMA 14-50 adapter, I’d recommend checking the service bulletin from 6/11. Mentions certain adapter serial numbers maybe have been programmed wrong and limit/prevent charging when using the 14-50 adapter.

https://service.tesla.com/docs/Serv...pect_NEMA_14-50_2nd_Gen_Charging_Adapter.docx
thanks for the heads up. I went to the SC and they checked that adaptor said NO Amp came out that thing ( I at least get 6A from home :). Then they gave me a new one and tested at home 50A , works as intended at 32A.

so the adaptor does get bad from time to time.

You aren't charging the Cybertruck at 100A.

And I hope that your panel can support it, most homes can't

Yes, I have a 200amp panel. The sub for the wall charger is supplying 2 100amp breakers where WC is set for 100amp output, the truck automatically charges down to 80%. Yep. New WC only put out 48 amp. Which sucks.

I'm pretty sure that the maximum L2 charging for the Cybertruck is 48A, aka a 60A breaker.
If you plug it into a 100A anything, it will only do 48A max.

It seems to be that your panel may be oversubscribed. Having two 100A breakers as well as other household breakers seems to be overloaded.

Update from OP:
Received the Tesla 10-30 adapter today, had a road trip starting after work this weekend, not far-100mi or so-but going to have limited charging where we will be til Sunday.

Juiced up to 90% at a supercharging station last night, and figured overnight the 110v would trickle it to 100%. Big dreams…cut the charging at 97% about 11am today and left work early to plug that bitch in with the 10-30 to the now-corrected circuit.

As expected, she’s up and juicing properly now.

Still feel like a dumbass, but also still glad my stupidity led to this thread.
