That's not true. Says right on PowerShare learn more:

Even after Powershare Gateway is installed, adding Powerwall upgrades you to an instant, seamless backup solution that can maximize the value of your energy system and ensure your home is prepared for severe weather events. Solar Roof and solar panels add the ability to generate your own electricity and further increase your independence from the grid and utility costs.

They did say that it would work now, but would require special commissioning support from Tesla to disable the site controller from PowerShare gateway. Will be easier in the future.

They also recommended that If I want PW3 at same time, to use Gateway 2/3 or BS. And again wait for that to be an approved configuration later this year.
I hope this interpretation is true. There's another thread on this forum that just started with conflicting info on this. It seems like the 3V gateway becomes superfluous with the addition of Powerwall which is consistent with what an installer told me.

Just so everyone knows. You can buy an $18 adapter on amazon and plug the Nema 14-50 in rear truck bed, directly into a generator interlock to power your whole house manually. Save $4000.
Typpically its about $800 to install a generator interlock, or do it yourself (carefully)
This is a good point. The benefit of the powershare hardware is that the switch happens automatically. The condition of: "my truck is plugged in and the power went out, now power the house" would require the manual intervention of unplug truck from charger (if plugged in since the CT won't power the Nema 14-50 if theres a charger in the charge port) and plug house into bed. If you're home, this isn't a big deal.

This is what my installer got from Tesla:

Here is some information we got back from Tesla regarding the Powerwall and Powershare Gateway.

“We apologize for the delay. Thank you for sending your Powershare design question in for review.

It is possible to install Powerwall units downstream of a Powershare Gateway, however this is not a recommended solution as it requires contact Tesla for assistance with the commissioning due to multiple “Site-Controllers” being on the property.

If the customer is planning to get a Powerwall unit at the same time as getting a Powershare System installed, then we would recommend that the system would be installing either the Backup Gateway 2, Gateway 3, or Backup Switch as the relay device for the Powerwall units rather than installing the Powershare Gateway (Gateway 3V).

If the customer is planning on getting a Powerwall system in the future but wants to get Powershare System installed immediately, then we would recommend installing the Universal Wall Connector with the Powershare Gateway. In the future, additional Powerwall 3 units can be installed into the backup circuit and with Tesla assistance the system can be commissioned properly.”

If we do get a $2500 voucher the one time purchase limitation kills the voucher unless you want a bunch of random (useless?) stuff. I wish we could use the voucher and purchase items that are on backorder. I would get the universal wall charger under seat storage bin and light-bar. But at this point in time none of the items are in stock or even available except for the wall charger. Maybe I should just buy 4 wall chargers? ?

I also would like to know if Tesla will give additional vouchers to those who only got $700 so far. I pick my truck up in a few days so will see how this plays out.

Now I have to make a decision about the Gateway and Powerwall. I just got my VIN. I'm going to call the Tesla certified installer which contacted me and another Tesla certified installer. I will post what they tell me.

They are going to tell you 'give me $3,500 for 3 hours of labor mounting and wiring up your equipment if you want your powershare' They will ask for even more if they have to run wire any length further than a few feet.

The system with one designated installer allowed for some markup. The new system, with a $2,500 voucher, will allow competition to thrive.

Right now I'm guessing that my best option is to get a standard powerwall installation with a gateway 3. That will allow for power share compatibility.

The $2,500 shop credit is elusive now. If I do not want a 3v Gateway, can I opt instead for a Gateway 3 and credit towards a more standard powerwall 3 installation.

Can someone please clarify if this is for any and all foundation series cybertruck owner, or just certain group of customers? I never got any email or any sort of notification about the power share voucher. The only thing I got once was a text from tesla asking if I'm interested in the powershare installation, to which I answered "yes", but then never heard back from them.

Interesting!

So rather than installers reaching out / in many casses never doing so, they’re putting the choice / burden on the buyer. Which IMo is way better. Good news for FS buyers

Tesla will have fulfilled its advertised offer with this new approach when the Version 3 Gateway and Charger are in stock for sale in the Tesla Shop for $2,500 or less.

Anyone know a support contact we can reach out too. I took delivery of my AWD CT and got a $700 voucher not yes utilized. I think based on what I see we should get it as well. I didn’t receive gateway as they stated I already have a powerwall After paying for FS. I could have used that for another property.

Update, I went directly to qmerit to request an estimate for powershare install on Tuesday. Already have been assigned a local installer who is working on an estimate.
