@cvalue13 some questions maybe.
1. you got everything right now cb is taking #20-420. any idea after 420? just mix 2/3 motor vin together?
2. What the actual story of non-VIP AWD delivery VIN? It should be 420+ but I rarely see anyone posting 4xx only some 5xx. Personally I got #57x so wonder how early my AWD is build

It is Tesla's fault as they broke the basic VIN lookup so no reliable and consistent information is available.

Id strongly assume they’ll continue creating VIN blocks of CBs vs AWDs. Keeps things tidy (and also they tend to run them through the line in batches for various reasons of efficiency).

Should now start seeing more CBs in the blend as well, bottleneck loosening a bit

Most above 420, but below 1,000, were EARLY (and so VIP-leaning) AWD units.

A #57X should probably have a record earlier in this thread, regarding its VIN activation date (which relative to other VIN activation dates will give an idea of how early).

start by searching this forum/thread for you entire VIN number, and if that doesn’t pan out @newwave1331 may be able to quick-search his early sheets



I haven’t checked for a while, but assume the Tesla recall/VIN site is still down (and still only for CTs), which is just incrementally more bizarre every day that goes by - they’re supposed to have those searchable by regulation - again, causing me to think the FS CTs are in some premature of regulatory treatment where they aren’t yet treated as fully in volume production and so get leeway for things like the recall search req’s

When I enter my vin for loans or insurance it comes up "no gots". Too bad Tesla is holding back on using the open VIN registry.

Used my parents address in Fremont for the initial order - they live up the road from the Tesla factory (knew that manufacturing was in Texas but figured it wouldn’t hurt my odds to use Fremont vs my address in San Diego)

Dublin location assigned for delivery which is great! Bought my dads model S from that team and I own a few restaurants around there so I’ll probably cater some food for the team there!

I saw a few socal folks beat me to a vin. I think SD is a big enough market that the shipping logistics favor it!just my 2 cents and hope! I have an awd drive ordered for down there (long after initial pre orders) and will be keeping fingers crossed

Small world! I split my time between the Bay Area (Fremont) and San Diego (La Mesa) and used my Fremont address in hopes of getting any favor / priority for being so close to the factory - even though I know its not being manufactured in Fremont- figured there would be some logistical advantage in how Tesla would allocate the inventory. Had Model X #50X (forgot the exact) with the first 500 going to employees and VIPs and being one of the first customer deliveries by virtue of the address being so close.

I dont know if it helped at the end of the day but excited to finally take delivery! Called the Dublin center where delivery is scheduled and it looks like they have a delivery date estimate of March 29th though they said it might be sooner. Volunteered that there is a big push for the end of quarter.

Another point of data that I know has been much debated and suffered a bit of the Mandela effect. When I ordered, the beast estimated delivery was "Early 2024" while the AWD was Quoted December-March when invited to choose.

FWIW my VIN came in today…CB VIN that is just sub 200. Was a minute one deposit holder and finalized my order that fateful Friday in early December with 30 minutes if getting the email. Ready for delivery in Irvine, so should have it s00n (nod to Rivian).
