Oh, sure, a release candidate back in september. That would be why it didn't ring a bell.
They didn't change anything on the rim or cover, not sure why anything would change. You wanted a source. I would rather have 4 covers than 3. Tesla would say it would be your fault anyway. So better them fix it now.

they told us at our delivery last week that they were backordered & will be shipped to us or we can pick it up when they arrive.

we didn't care really bc the rims are actually nice underneath but just needs some end caps.

My thoughts are under severe tire compression they could come off. Close to a rim hit, at the pointy part of the rim cover.
coming off was one thing (already, a while back)

but that pointy part making contact with the sidewall after several thousand miles?

that’s different…

I wasn't saying I don't believe it or that it didn't count. Just that I hadn't heard about it, and it was because I was only thinking that the few owners who had them delivered with hubcaps hadn't checked in saying there was an issue

This is news to me, do you have a source? It would make sense, but I haven't seen anyone report that theirs came off.
I saw picture somewhere with one of those hubcaps rolling down the highway. Can’t remember where but I saw it.

Like any advanced new products. Issues will arise and will be dealt with. These are some of the "perks" early adopters receive while manufacturers iron out the kinks. I've been there, done it with my BMW X3M Competition, Polestar-2, Rivian R1T and R1S. I keep telling myself never again will I be an early adopter but...I guess I'm a closet patho guinea pig?
Next up, Cyberbeast, followed by the Aptera Launch Edition ?

hub caps fly off every damn second of the day. Just look at the sides of freeways cluttered with crap and what people throw out their windows. The world would be better without them anyways and the POS's that throw shit out their windows. Shortfall of production. Zero confirmation of actual recall.

Well - another issue just popped up. I was delivered my CT on the 24th without covers. No explanation other than they would be sending a tech to install the caps on the 1st.

Tomorrow is the 1st and I just received another message that they won’t be delivering becuase they are recalling all the covers and they won’t be delivering the caps until March.

this sounds a bit like nightmare you can’t make up. I get they are only the finish wheel hubs, but seems insane.

Anyone else having this issue?
Having to recall because of airbags would be a big issue. Wheel covers?

Without the covers, those tires do look strange. Can I just get delivery with all-season tires and a discount? ;)

I post Cybertruck stuff on the Internet and people like it.

There is a revision being done to the way they bite the rim. Heard it is supposed to help with them rotating freely too.

I will be happy to take mine without the wheel covers. I have lost a few hubcaps over the years so no big deal. I would rather wait for wheel covers while I'm driving my Cybertruck around than waiting for delivery of such a minor thing.
