I have not read anything about Tesla designers using the F-117A Nighthawk as a styling influence but it makes you wonder. I can’t help but notice a lot of similarities. Both use flat surfaces without a curve in sight.

Tesla Cybertruck Was the F-117A Nighthawk a styling influence? cyber F117

Speaking about Tesla’s inspirations for the Cybertruck, Franz noted that the electric car maker looked to vehicles like fighter jets as a basis for the all-electric pickup truck. This statement definitely appears to ring true, as the steel pickup, especially when it is carrying Tesla’s all-electric ATV on its bed, resembles the profile of the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, a stealth fighter plane that was in service from October 1983 to April 2008.

I know Elon’s specifically referenced the CT as the “Blade Runner Truck” and cited Dechart’s sedan and the Spinner as influences, as well as Bond’s submarine car in The Spy Who Loved Me. Many of the Bladerunner vehicles share the same design cues

I don't know, but I think it would be cool to see the CT and F-117A on the ramp side by side.

Wasn't there a slide in the unveiling showing stealth bomber and the 007 boat car on screen as influences?

Where does inspiration and true genus come from? Is it all original or is it built on everything you have seen and experienced and then reinterpreted (if only subconsciously)?

Probably a bit of both.

Good catch!

I noticed the PP included the The Zumwalt-class destroyer for the Navy. They are only $4.2B each😁

Elon and Frans specifically said the Delorian, the Bond Lotus, Blade Runner and the Nighthawk as influences.

It's also because round surfaces reflect more equally in all directions along the curve, and we've switched to absorbent/counter signaling instead.

It's the same reason you get a 'flash' off of a prismatic surface, because more of the light is usually not reflecting from you - the Cybertruck does this.
